May 20 2011- Riviera of Massapequa

Hi Ladies,

My wedding was call off unexpectedly a few weeks ago, and I finally worked up enough courage to call the Reception Hall we booked. The Riviera of Massapequa was booked May 20th 2011, a Friday night. Typically anyone who cancels looses all of their deposit....unfortunately My deposit was a gift from my parents. I don't want them to loose everything SO if anyone is interested in the place and date please let me know.

Much Appreciated

Danni!!

Does it have to be that date or can you move it?!?

FH & I looked at the Riviera sunday and fell in love. We are looking at Novemeber 11th, 2012 because we booked the church already.

And how much would it be?

...so sorry to hear this doll. You're in my prayers...

...I was told by some of the ladies on the boards that if you cancel a RH in suffolk county, you're legally entitled to your deposit minus $100 back. Is Massapequa considered Suffolk? You should probably look into this because I cancelled a RH and it was no problem because the event was more than 6 months away...good luck!

I'm sorry to hear that

I think its pretty crappy they won't give back the deposit for 2011! They still have 18 months to book that spot.

Sorry to hear that. Hang in there.
With your wedding booked so far in advance, why woun't they give you your money back? If they re-book your date (I'm sure they will) They should give you your money back. Talk to them, maybe they can work with you.

Thanks Girls....

It doesn't look like anyone wants that date....and it doesn't look like I will be getting all of my deposit back (if i get anything at all)

I have to go there next week to speak with them (that is going to be SO difficult- i LOVE IT THERE) but we all do what we have to do.

I appreciate all of your support!!

I'm so sorry about that. I know it seems hard right now but I'm almost positive you will get your money back (or most). The Riviera is a great place and people will want to be on the water for cocktail hour in May. It might just take a little time. I went recently to look at the Riviera and there were only a few dates left for the rest of 2010 so by the time it gets closer to 2011, I'm sure someone will have booked it.

I'm also speaking from experience... I was engaged previously (over 4 years ago). I had booked the hall, put down deposits, etc. My date was eventually booked at my RH and I got all of my money back at that point (except $500 but that's nothing in the grand scheme of what had been laid out). Try to stay positive...
