May 2003 wedding - Stockings or not?
Any suggestions? for me (bride) and the BM? I origianlly thought not, but now I'm rethinking, and would like opinions. we haven't finalised the dresses yet, but they will most likely be full length, navy

Re: May 2003 wedding - Stockings or not?
I hate stockings, so I vote no. I didn't wear them at my late April wedding (I had open toe shoes and hate the look with stockings). Some of my BMs did - most didn't. Depended on what they were comfortable with and what shoes they had.
But I was in a May 2000 wedding and wasn't planning on wearing stockings -the day of it was freezing and rainy so I put them on to keep me warm.
Its a good idea to have them available just in case.
Do whatever you're comfortable with. If the dress is floor length, it won't alter the look either way.

Re: May 2003 wedding - Stockings or not?
I am also getting married in May. As far as my BMs go, I am leaving the decision to them, although I am going to ask them all to do the same thing (majority vote wins.) I hate stockings, so originally, I wasn't going to wear them. But I also won't wear open-toed shoes w/o stockings and I don't want to wear open-toed shoes because I have seen pictures of brides with their shoes/feet showing and I didn't like it. So, I decided on closed-toe shoes with thigh-highs. Hopefully I won't feel as restricted as I would in stockings.I think it is really a personal opinion. No stockings is fine if that's what you want.

Re: May 2003 wedding - Stockings or not?
My first decision was NO stockings, and nice open toe shoes, then the thought occurred to me during the garter toss, what if. . . you never know what the camera might see. . .
So now I am leaning towards stockings, although I love the idea of a nice strappy sandal
But I don't think there is a right or wrong answer. I think that it is a personal decision based on what you're comfortable with.

Re: May 2003 wedding - Stockings or not?
i was a bm recently -beginning of sept. and i always wear stockings ---it never crossed my mind not to wear them----but my other friends who were bm were not wearing them---so i went along w/them and didn't---- it actually wasn't that bad at all--- a lot cooler! and more convenient for bathroom trips!

Re: May 2003 wedding - Stockings or not?
I had open toed shoes but no stockings...BUT I gained 5 pounds before the wedding and after the last fitting (lol) so I got the stockings for capris...to suck me in and smooth me out...It wasn't bad going to the bathroom...I was able to do it myself...but I didn't have a train/bustle...(btw...I didn't have the garter toss...so no worries about that...)
I let my BMs decide...I think 2 wore and 2 didn't...
my sister is getting married in Oct...I haven't decided if I should wear stockings or not...but I think I will b/c they are black shoes...

Re: May 2003 wedding - Stockings or not?
My BMs and I are all wearing open toe shoes with NO stockings, I don't like the way open toe shoes look with stockings. We're in the beginning of May, hopefully it will not be cold.

Re: May 2003 wedding - Stockings or not?
NO stockings for me! I prefer a opened toe shoe. As for my BM I'm letting them choose. I know my MOH always wears stockings. I think it really depends on the shoes that everyone is wearing.
