May need an apt in January -- UPDATE

May need an apt in January -- UPDATE

Great time to move, right, in the middle of the friggin winter??

The house I live in is for sale right now, and the tenant downstairs (our landlord lives nearby but not in the house; there are two apts, one on the 1st floor and one on the second) just told me he believes the house is in contract or will be very soon

I cried all the way to work.... I am getting married in two weeks, my grandma is very sick, and now, most likely, I will need to start packing my things as soon as I get home from my honeymoon. We have soooo much stuff, we will need a place with a yard or the very least a big garage to store stuff, and hopefully an attic or basement we can store things in. I have alll my shower gifts and FH has lots of car stuff to store. Storage is a possibility I guess but at $100 a month AT LEAST, it's gonna get pricey.

Anyone know of a place near Huntington opening up in January?????

ETA:

False alarm! The tenant that lives below me is apparently a dounting Thomas or just an idiot. I ran into my landlord last night when FH and I were out in Huntington, and the guy who is buying the house (no contract signed yet, but almost) is an INVESTOR and wants to keep us in the house. It's in our contract that we would stay if it were sold. FH said that the tenant downstairs doesn't believe the landlord and thinks we will have to move anyhow. I can't wait to see the jerk and tell him what a friggin assssss he is. Friggin ruined my day on Wed, FOR NADA. Jerrrrrrk.

Thanks ladies for your kind words and for anyone who told me of an apt for rent, thank YOU!!!!!

You girls rock.

Oh No!! Try take it in stride, call your landlord and find out from him what's going on. There's nothing better than getting information straight from the horse's mouth. It doesn't even matter if it goes into contract...the buyer needs to secure a mortgage and that takes time now-a-days if they even give him one.

Call your landloard and get all the information you can. Plus they can't just kick you out, I'm assuming you have a lease and there should be provisions for this. Also, for all you know the buyer might want to keep you guys as tenants.

The guy downstairs said no, he's going to live there. But the house is a two-apt. house. It would take time to make it a one-family house. So I guess it's possible that he would live downstairs and let us stay - I don't know.

AND The unknown to me is the worst! I can deal with anything, as long as I know what I have to do and by when.

Jenn, I'm sorry you are bothered with this right now. Bad timing.

We had a one-year lease but once it was up it went month-to-month. I know it is really hard to evict someone, and not that I want to stay when I am told to leave --- I would hate to do that to someone .....

omg, that's terrible! maybe this is all happening for a reason, and you'll find something even better than what you have now.

I looked a few weeks ago, but it's still too early I guess ... most places don't let you say 'I'll take it in January' now. But I plan to look there when I know more - that's how I found the place I am in now. Thanks

I would not stress until you are sure they are making you move. Take one thing at a time.
