Maybe it is a STUPID QUESTION but...ceremony and reception at the same place

My ceremony is at Land's End and so is my reception foloowoing. I know if your ceremony is at a church or a temple the groom and bride and their families stand outside and everyone says congrats. What do they do when you have your ceremony and reception at the same place.... do you stll make line? or just go straight to the cocktail hour?

You can if you want. Also depends on the set of the place and if it make sense. Also when you have ceremony and reception in one place you don't have extra time between the ceremony and the cocktail hour so having a receiving line will cut into your cocktail hour.

We did not do the receiving line as it was a natural progression for the guests to walk from the ceremony area to the cocktail area.

We are getting married at Flwerfield. They gave us the option of doing a receiving line if we wanted.

My sister had it all together and they kinda pushed the bridal party into the bridal suite so that the guests could go downstairs for the coctail hour. I guess it kinda depends on your time frame. She had a 1:00 cermony and a 1:30 cocktail hour so there was no time inbtween and actually since people were lingering around they missed part of the coctail hour.

There diffently was not enough time between the cermony and the coctail hour to have a receiving line.

It is really not a bad idea to have the reception and the cermony at the same place. Some people will not go to the cermony and may only go to the reception hall.

We will just go into the cocktail hour b/c we don't want to waste time standing in a line, but plenty of people do that too...Your choice

We're having what's called a yichud in Jewish ceremonies - it's a time right after the ceremony where the Bride and Groom go off by THEMSELVES for 10 -15 minutes - to take it all in, to eat something (in olden days to have sex for the first time ). Anyway, I think it's a great idea for people getting married at the reception hall. Other couples get their time in the limo - we get nothing until the end of the night!

After that we're going into the cocktail hour.

hahaha - they only gave them 10-15 minutes for that back then? I'd be pretty disappointed if I waited all that time for 10-15 minutes!

We are going to go to our bridal suite for a few minutes to collect ourselves and be alone but then heading to the cocktail hour to see everyone. I don't want to miss one part of the day!
