Mazatlan, Mexico

Mazatlan, Mexico

Has anyone been to Mazatlan, Mexico? We were originally considering Hawaii, but we got locked out of a hotel there since we're going through a timeshare program (fiance's aunt's gift to us...)

We're staying at Pueblo Bonito, Emerald Bay. It looks great, but just don't know if there is enough to do...

In much need of encouragement. I'm trying to stay on the positive side of things, but still nervous.

Thanks!

Dh and I have been to Mazatlan 2 years ago but I can't seem to remember the name of the resort we stayed at. It was right on the edge of town. We did take a tour of your resort and were blown away by it. Absolutely beautiful. As for the town, we really liked it but I think we went during the slow season for them (we went in November). There is plenty to do as day trips, we did a boat tour of the wet lands, sunset cruise, close towns that really old and a lot of relaxing on the beach. There are plenty of bars and restaurants. There's also a pier that is great to walk at night, its about 5 miles long. It goes from town all the way to the light house (we never made it that far). At night it is packed with people, some running and others just hanging out. You can check out this site for info. I have used it while doing mazatlan and Cabo.

I guess it depends on what you are into doing. Can you email the resort and ask about what day trips they have. We did this while in Cabo San Lucas and it really helped us plan our vacation. While in Mazatlan we didn't do that because DH really just wanted to relax. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Thank you so much! I'm glad to hear you had a good time, definately encouraging. I have much research and planning to do. We want to relax, but I think we'd go nuts if we didn't go out.

Re: Mazatlan, Mexico

We (immediate family and FH) went to Mazatlan last year, end of March. I know we were there on Easter.
It is a very different city. We found many Mexicans there on vacation. So you dont feel like you are in a foreign place, but everyone there is American, you feel like you are in Mexio. We also visited Pueblo Bonito, it was gorgeous!!! but pretty far from town. a good 15 minute ride from town. they have these 'mexican limosines' these open air taxi sort of things. they are really pickup trucks, or golf carts really. quite interesting!!
the only thing i would inquire about if possible, is we were there during Bike Week. i guess hundreds of motorcycle guys come every year for a week, and it was a little distracting.
other than that?? beers were cheap! food was great, cheap also. there are a lot of night club places that dont open until late, and there is also a senior frogs.
feel free to FM me if you hyave any questions!
