How many of you are having an MC? How many are not? If you do not have an MC who introduces the BP, bride and groom and announces special songs?

Re: MC or no MC
I think the DJ does it? I'm almost sure I heard that. I guess the MC has the kind of personality you need to talk infront of all those people, and make it interesting.

Re: MC or no MC
I am getting both but I want the MC to speak to my guests, not SHOUT at them. A lot of MC's do this and it gets annoying. I'm using Bravo Sounds in Astoria and from the 3 weddings I know they were the DJ/MC for they don't do this! Body Rock lets you choose your MC style which is nice too.

DJ, no MC. DJ will do all announcements from behind the booth instead of an MC doing them from the dance floor.

Re: MC or no MC
I said other-b/c we would like a 2 man DJ team-only so that if one eats-there is still someone doing music, I know they set it up to play but what if something goes wrong and the DJ is in the bathroom? Or away for whatever reason? But-I dont want an MC in your face-so we havent really decided on this yet

Re: MC or no MC
i am not having an mc, in my personal experience at weddings, they always talk over the music, and they always try and drag the guests who are not dancing on the dance floor, it drives me nuts...lol we have a lively group who will dance on their own, so we jsut went with a dj, jmo our dj will do all the announcemens

When you get just a DJ he usually brings in an assistant for this reason.

we got an mc and we're so happy that we did. he was great. he loves to go into the crowd. we went to the wedding where there wasn't one, and nobody was really up dancing

Re: MC or no MC
We had a DJ/MC combo from Then Til Now. Steve, the MC, was great, and did get people going but did not drag people out onto the dance floor or talk over music

I'm going with Vinny at High Voltage without an MC, but he has an assistant that helps with some things. He said it himself, it's really not necessary if you pick the right dj who will do the announcements and works for you...

I think it's depand on your guest. Do they like dancing or not? In my case, I have dj, assistant and mc.

Re: MC or no MC
We're having an MC. I wanted someone who could 'work' the crowd while the DJ just handled the music itself. Otherwise I feel like one person is trying to do the job of 2 people. JMO.

Re: MC or no MC
Here is my suggestion...
If your family loves to dance and needs little to no motivation to get up and party... then stick with just a dj.
If your family needs a little coaxing... get an MC and DJ.
