I love David Sedaris and think that this one was his best! He is a writer and speaker on NPR.

Re: Me talk pretty one day
Naked actually came out first. His sister is Amy Sedaris, she's been on Sex and the City and was on a show on comedy central Strangers with Candy. Sedaris' books are the only ones I can read over and over again and laugh every time. He's a writer, used to do radio on NPR (not sure if he still does), he does some articles, too. There are a few other books out, but they're really short and some of the same stories are in Naked.
If you like his writing, read Augusten Burough's book Running with Scissors and his new one Dry. Very funny.

Re: Me talk pretty one day
david sedaris actually WAS an elf at Macy's SANTALAND (read the Santaland Diaries, one of his shorts) and he also actually used to be a janitor in a company i worked for... there are some people he mentions in his stories as fictional characters -- 2 of them being Drew Hodges and Becky Michaels, but they were co-workers of mine at that same company! Every name you see used in his stories is taken from someone he knows personally. :-)
