meant to ask this.......NWR Flo getting married

i was just talking to my hairdresser about this. she said it was weird.

i missed it, but i have it dvr'ed.

Yea it was very weird....and kinda sad. Albanian culture says the mom doesn't go to the wedding since it's the Groom's family's party. So the mom didn't go.

I think Flo will behave. She may have been playing up for the cameras.

Yep, a lot but she understood why she did it - it just su*cke*d for her. Her brothers and sister went and so did her aunts and uncles but not her mom.

ITA i watched it and i didnt agree with alot of their culture including the moving in with the grooms family and getting dressed up to serve her guest..ya ok im not wearing a cocktail dress and serving any1 lol and im not moving into my inlaws house either

Flo - the first Albanian Muslim woman on reality TV and on Bad Girls Club a few seasons ago- got married and they had a show about it. They showcased the Albanian culture of the mom not going to the ceremony or party at all. The groom's family paying for everything, the bride moving in to the groom's family's house, serving coffee in a cocktail dress.

Not all of Albanian culture believes this - there's specific regions that are more 'old fashioned' than others. The reason this tradition started back in the day (which still happens sometimes) is that the girl was being brought into the new family. Prior to her night wedding, she has a 'day time wedding' which is thrown by her family. The groom is not there. The groom's family then come and picks up the bride and brings her to the grooms home or the reception at night. As a respect for this tradition, the two families split apart. More so now than ever, a lot of people, including myself, are combining their weddings into one wedding...

In terms of the serving - it's another thing that's done for respect and as part of tradition. There's certain regions that go a bit crazy about it (IMO...for example, the bride can't turn her back to the guests because it's bad luck, etc.), but other times...it's purely out of tradition. After the wedding, atleast the closest guests come over the house (wherever the guests are living) to come congratulate them again. During this time, the bride serves the guests - basically, shes' the hostess. She's dressed up usually in evening gowns and not cocktail gowns, full make-up etc. Again, this is more of the old fashioned outlook - for a lot of people now, it's same thing as having guests over...

(Sorry, I realize I sound like I'm lecturing lol but I'm not, just wanted to tell you girls what I know )

Yea the MIL was telling her how to walk out of the room and all. It was interesting. I know there are all these old fashioned trends in all cultures but it was the first I saw it firsthand...

Plus Flo was a bad girl so it was interesting to see her 'change' for her FH
