Family practice is mostly for kids; internal medicine is for adults.

As adults, we should all be going to an internist.

Hope that helps!

I don't know specifically but I believe that Family Practice doctors can treat anyone from babies to adults. Internists specifically treat adults. The only doctors I know that treat only children are pediatricians who can treat only to age 18.

internal medicine has further schooling and specializes in internal medicine where as family practice is more of a general dr.

Thanks, I will try to stick to internal.

How do I pick a doctor off my PPO list? This is so annoyingly hard!!!

Look up your local doctor, then find out if they accept PPO. PPO means you can use any doctor, but you might pay a little more for your copay or you might have less coverage.
You can call the insurance company as well and ask them for a doctor near you
