OK, so I'm gonna take a shot in the dark here, but maybe someone will have some input... I've been having pains in my left lower abdomen. At first I noticed it more during 'that time of the month' but it seems to be constant now. I have a dr's appt tomorrow, but I dont even know what's down in that region Anyone have any input??
Edited to say: It's been bothering me so much that last night I dreamt that I had a hole in that are!!!

Re: Medical question
is it on the same side every month, because it's every other month, then it's you ovulating, but if it hurts, i would definitely be questioning the doc!

Re: Medical question
Oh no Chrissy! I've actually used heating pads, and that seems to help alittle. I know I'm gonna go to the Dr. tomorrow and she's going to say I have to go for a sonogram, and that'll be another 3 or 4 weeks before I can get an appointment

Re: Medical question
I had that same problem a while back. I would occassionally have pains and being silly I would tell FH that my uterus hurt. They would normally go away after a couple of hours or so but last April I got them and they lasted a week and I finally went to the doctor. The doctor told me that it could've been 1 of 3 things.
1) PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease) 2) An etopic (Sp?) pregnancy (in the tubes) 3) Cists
After coming to the conclusion that it was not PID or a pregnancy I went for a sonogram and it turns out it wasn't cists either. I have 2 fibroid tumors in my uterus. I was told they're benign and normally they don't interfere with trying to concieve. But then again mine are relatively small. There are surgeries for removal but my doctor does not want to remove mine because I have not had any children yet and he does not want to put me at risk for scar tissue which would definitely make it harder for me to concieve.'
Hope this was helpful.

Re: Medical question
It sounds like an ovarian cyst to me. They usually flare up more during that time of the month. Good luck tomorrow and let us know what happens

Re: Medical question
I would say it sounds like a cyst - I have had a few and I get them on my right side though -

Re: Medical question
So is there anything that they do for that, or do you just have to live with the pain?

Re: Medical question
Well mine grew rapidly - then slowly went away on its own (I was on the pill at the time). My friends have been put on the pill sometimes that worked.
Some have to be drained I hear

Re: Medical question..UPDATED
I have PCOD/PCOS (polycystic ovary disease or syndrome). Name depends on what doctor you talk to. If it is cysts, they do tend to flare up during that time of the month. Normally they just prescribe birth control pills for this condition. They usually only will operate if the bc does not shrink the cysts (which I think over 90% of the time they do). Make sure the doctor does not prescrive a tri-phasic bc pill (such as ortho tri-cyclene). Studies show that tri-phasic pills are not helpful to pocd patients. You should take a mono phasic pill. I have done a lot of research on this, so if you have any questions, or need more info let me know. Some doctors still do not consider this a disease, and will give patients a hard time about acknowledging it. It is diagnosed with a simple blood test, followed up by a sonogram, and if needed an internal sonogram. If you feel you may have this and the dr does not want to do the tests, go to another dr.
