Medication while Preggo...MOMMY NO FEEL GOOD =(

Hi Ladies...
I feel SOOO sick ! I got the WORSE cold Ive ever had. Ive never had allergy problems, so I never knew what this 'sinus pressure' was all about...TILL NOW !!!!!!!

I have a VERY runny nose, VERY STUFFY head, sinus pressure. To top it off, I think I bit my tongue while eating the other day and my tongue is in PAIN, and for some reason, if this makes sense, my teeth hurt ! Im awake because I cant sleep even though I went to bed early.

I have a long day tomorrow. Going to a shower in Queens (and Im driving) Im normally not a complainer or a whiner, but I feel like CRRRAAAPPPP !!!!!!

What have you ladies taken as far as medication?
Im going to take Tylenol Extra Strength, maybe 1 right now just to get some sleep. What can I take with me tomorrow, bring the Tylenol or bring Acetaminophen? How often should I take it? I really dont like to overdo it with medication, ESPECIALLY when preggo.....

Thanks for any input...

Anna; sinus pressure will make your teeth hurt. The Excederin should help that. I should think you'd be OK using a Vicks Inhaler to relieve some of the congestion - if you're not familiar with it, it's a small tube kind of like a lipstick - it has a mentholated compound inside (like Vicks VapoRub) Just inhale the vapors and it should help for a short while.

A hot steamy bath or shower should help relieve the pressure too.

Always hot spicy Mexican food which helps open the sinuses.

My doctor had put me on a type of pennicilyn (sp?) when i was prego because i was very sick with a cold i jsut couldnt shake.... I think he said pennicylins are the only prescription pills prego women should take.. i would call your doctor though.. theres been an awful cold going around!!!!

Anna, according to my doctor, you can take Tylenol Cold and Sinus meds, but ONLY the non drowsy formula, or regular or extra strength Tylenol. Everything else is a no-no.

As for dosage, follow the directions on the box, and take the lowest dosage that helps you. (If it says 2 pills every 4 hours, try one first, if that doesn't help, up it to 2.)

My doc told me I could take the non-drowsy tylenol allergy sinus when I was preggo - it helped sooo much!! Fell better!!

I was also told Tylenol sinus or sudafed non-drowsy, but Anna if you have sinusitus( which it sounds like you might) you may need an antibiotic. I get this ALL the time and it is really painful. Make sure you rest and drink a lot of fluids! I would call your Dr and see if you can get an appointment. You do not want to be feeling that bad for a week or more which it can last if untreated. I only had it once during my pregnancy and my Dr. had to give me antibiotics and my OBGYN said it was fine. Feel better

Thanks girls. I feel a little better. The stuffy head feels better, but I LOST MY VOICE ! I think I'll call the Dr. tomorrow or Tuesday to make sure Im not letting anything go untreated, as per your advice!

Poor JA has a bit of a cold too! He's such a good sport. Doesnt even whine one bit!

Claud- I think Im going to make both of us that soup today, good idea! and the weather sure looks like a soup day!
