Mediterranean Cruise

Has anyone ever been on a Mediterranean cruise? I know some of you are taking them for your honeymoons, but anyone ever been on one already?

FH and I are planning a trip in July/Aug 2012 with some friends and I'd like to hear your experiences - any certain cruise lines you liked/didn't? What about itineraries? Are any better than others?

TIA!!!!

Re: Mediterranean Cruise

i'll be going to one for my HM, but Princess does Mediterranean Cruises and they are phenomenal as well. I am cruising with Holland America for my HM.
I would go for Western European countries and Greece, although there are awesome cruises that go to the Baltic ports if your interested in those as well.
Cruise411 has awesome deals, check them out!

Re: Mediterranean Cruise

We did a group 7 night Royal Caribbean cruise out of Venice last year.

Venice Dubrovnik, Croatia; Piraeus (Athens), Greece; Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey; Venice, Italy

We had an amazing time. Flew into Rome did a few days there and then took a train to Tuscany and then on to Venice.

It was very hot in Venice, but other than that would go back in a heartbeat! The Greek Islands were just beautiful.

If you want info on any of the ports, fm me and I will send you everything.

If you need a travel ageny, I have a great one!

Re: Mediterranean Cruise

I haven't done the Med before, but I've done the Caribbean/Central America on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Celebrity.

Depends on what you're looking for as to what I would recommend.
If you're going for the party atmosphere go for Carnival.
I wasn't crazy about Royal Caribbean, food was 'eh.'
If you are more for the sophisticated and relaxing DEFINITELY go with Celebrity. The food and service were fantastic, entertainment was better than the other lines, only catch is that we were the youngest (kidlettes aside) by about 30 years...but if that doesn't bother you then Celebrity is the way to go. We just got back from 2 weeks on the Equinox (has a real lawn and a glass blowing studio!)...and it will be doing the Med. run all summer

Hope that helps
