Meet our new dog!

we're so excited! last weekend we adopted our new dog, nessa!

we applied to adopt a dog from the Seeing Eye Institute in morristown, nj last february. they raise and train dogs to be guide dogs for the blind. however, about half the puppies bred for the program do not make it for various health and temperment reasons. we were hoping to get a 2 year-old dog that was 'rejected' (that sounds so harsh!). i have no experience with dogs and i did not want the responsibility of a puppy.

we got a call last thursday that they had a dog for us, but she was 4 years-old and a breeder (she has had 18 babies). they weren't using her as a breeder any longer so she was up for adoption. we went to meet her last saturday & took her home the same day!

she is such an angel! so loving and fun to play with, so well behaved, such a sweetheart! she knows quite a few commands, loves to give kisses, loves to go outside and sniff around and run, and she's so well behaved!
DH has taken her to work a few times this week so she's not home alone. on the days when he leaves her home, he comes home to see her during lunch. we're really enjoying the newest member of our family!! i've never really been a dog person, but i'm in love!

she's a golden retriever, 54 lbs, perfect health.

june- we live in morristown & the seeing eye institute is well known around here. they are always walking/training the dogs in town. they are the largest guide dog beeding & training facility in the country. we filled out an application on line last february. some people wait three years to get called!
