I saw this interesting post from another Bride and was wondering the same thing. Are any of you worried about not meeting your minimum guarantee for your reception/catering hall? After reading some of those posts, I'm figuring maybe I shouldn't cut my wedding list after all, just in case of the 'No's.'
I have a 'Stand By' List to fill our seats. I like your 'Seat Filler' title. Good idea. ;o)

I chose a minimum that I knew I would have no trouble meeting. If, for some reason, a freak storm happens or something, where we don't meet the minimum, I'm going to make sure I have people as seat fillers.

I wouldn't worry because even if you don't meet your minimum, most reception halls will give you extras and upgrades to make up for the difference in price. Some halls will also allow you to count your vendors towards your minimum if you are below.

Honestly, if we by chance DON'T meet our minimum, FH & I have no problem just paying for the seats. I don't foresee that happening but the rate per plate was so great it is no big deal to us.

and they will allow kids to count if you're under. so then you are only losing your half price.

Yes that's a good point! If push comes to shove, I'll invite my cousin with her (5) kids and some other extended little cousins! LOL

That's true! I was reading that on another post the catering hall will substitute like an upgrade in food or something if you come up short.
