Meeting House Creek Inn v. Digger O'Dells for RD

Hi ladies,

Yesterday FH and I took a trip out East by our RH to look for rehearsal dinner spots. Digger O'Dell's was extremely reasonably priced, so we sat for lunch. I can't say I was overly impressed, as (even knowing we were considering it for our RD), the food was just 'ok' and it took forever for them to keep coming over to us. The benefit of having it there is that it's only minutes away from our church.

When I came back home I looked into the Meeting House Creek Inn, which looks like it has a great view and is equally priced. However, it is in Aquebogue and is about 10-15 minutes away (and our wedding is in February).

Has anyone been to the MHCI? Any suggestions about my above scenario? Thanks!

IMO, I would choose MHCI. I have been to several parties there, and they were nice.

I have been to Diggers also, but would prob not choose it over the MHCI.

Well.. I am partial to this. We are VERY close friends w/ the owners of Diggers and have A LOT of friends who work there. I've had MANY MANY parties here and we were considering them for our RD as well =) There service for parties is MUCH different than just lunch. They cater to ONLY you and that's it.. They are very good.

Meeting House Creek is really good too.. MY FBIL lives down the road from there =) We went to Mother's Day Brunch this year and it was 'okay' nothing great. We normally go to the Birchwood in RH and that was MUCH better. Meetinghouse Creek is very small inside and very dated (decor) if you don't mind that, then the setting is beautiful.

Just another option... we are having ours at the Cooperidge Inn, very close to Riverhead. The food is AWESOME and the packages were actually not that bad price wise compared to the regular menu.

We are having a full out sit down package for about $31 pp.

We also looked into Desmond's Restaurant, at the East Wind, which was about $24 pp and they had a very nice package too!

Thanks ladies. Hard choice - I'd probably normally go with MHCI (based on their view, that the price is right, and you get a bit more), but I'm just not sure if it's worth it to have everyone travel in the winter.

Cooperage Inn looks great - just a few dollars more/head than we were looking for (we have a large wedding party and his parents are footing the bill for it).
