Re: MEETING MY MINIMUM
I have exactly the same situation. We only wanted to have 125 but CLM required us to have 150 to get the ballroom. We got an amazing price pp so we are going to book. I am not sure how many to invite either. I think I am going to invite about 180-185. Make sure to order extra invitations b/c if you start getting some no's you can add people off your B invite list. I am friends with a few of my sisters friends so if I dont reach my minimum I am just going to have them come join us... they are cool like that.

Re: MEETING MY MINIMUM
i'm a little worried too..... our min is 150 and right now the list is at 219. But 98% are from OOT.
On the other hand, if almost everyone decides to show up, my dad will probably have a heart attack (he's paying).

Re: MEETING MY MINIMUM
I think the average is 20% of the guest list says no, so try to bump your list up to 190 or 200 if you can.
You can have any single people bring a guest, that's one way to increase the count. Maybe also try co-workers and friends/coworkers of your parents.
I invited around 205 and still didn't make my 150 minimim, but I wouldn't stress too much about it. Most RH's will work with you, like having your vendors count toward the headcount, or throw in extras.

Re: MEETING MY MINIMUM
I had invited 142 we had 102 say yes. 8 people didn't show the day of so we had to eat that.

Re: MEETING MY MINIMUM
I am nervous about this too. I heard you can get them to upgrade other things if you don't meet the minimum.

Re: MEETING MY MINIMUM
Our minimum was 150 and we invited about 195 & just made the minimum. We had a bunch of out of towners that we invited that we knew weren't going to come. You'll probably be okay with inviting 180.

Re: MEETING MY MINIMUM
don't forget to include you and Fh in your minimum. And kids will count as adults until you reach your minimum (once you meet the minimum, they're usually half price)
In some cases, the RH will let you count your vendors as part of your minimum, too...call your RH to find out the policy.

Re: MEETING MY MINIMUM
I heard that 30% don't come (between responding no and no-shows) and I didn't believe it. We invited about 195 and so far we only have 111 who have RSVPed yes. We still have a few more who have yet to respond but we were worried about making the minimum too. I was shocked at how many people were unable to come, granted FH's family is OOT but still, you'd think they'd make an extra effort. I would definatly go by the 30% rule especially if you have a lot from OOT. Also give your RH a smaller number than you're expecting if you can.

Re: MEETING MY MINIMUM
invite about 190-200 people, usually expect a turn down rate of 20%, plus sometimes people will not show up on the day of your actual wedding

Re: MEETING MY MINIMUM
We had the same minimum. Once you counted the +1's, we invited 225. We got 143, or something like that. It all really depends on your guest list. A lot of the people we invited were younger and couldn't afford to make it, or older friends that we hadn't talked to in a while. We also knew that a lot of people wouldn't bring a guest. Go through your list and count the 'likelies'.
Your hall won't cancel your party or anything dramatic like that as long as you're making an attempt to meet the minimum. Our manager did ask us how many were on the total guest list, and at that time, I said 180 (I didn't realize then that tI'd forgotten to count the +1's). He seemed happy with the odds of hitting the minimum.

Re: MEETING MY MINIMUM
typically about 20-30% say no. So do try to invite a few more people
also dont forget that your vendors can get counted towards your headcount so dont forget to include them in that.

Re: MEETING MY MINIMUM
We plan to send our invites out a few weeks earlier than usual, and have an earlier RSVP date...then if need be, we can send more invites out. Though we luck out cuz a lot of our guests don't know the others so they won't know that they are B listers...

Re: MEETING MY MINIMUM
Nothing will happen. You will just have to pay for a lot of empy chairs. That's what we'll probably end up doing, but we love our room, so we don't mind paying a little more. And yes...we asked our hall if we could include our vendors and they said, of course! We have an 8 piece band, so there's 8 people right there! :)

you still pay for the minimum you guaranteed the hall, so if you signed a contract for a minimum of 150 you are paying for 150 ppl no matter how many do show up that day.
You can ask for the RH to throw in some free things for you if you are under you minimum
