I am meeting with a florist tomorrow, but I have no idea what I should be asking them... especially since I don't have a color scheme yet and don't know what type of flowers I want. Do they just show you pictures of a bunch of different centerpieces & bo'k's? Anybody have a list as to what I should be asking about? I'm so clueless!
TIA!

Re: Meeting with Florists - Questions
If you don't have a color scheme, I would just bring pics of CP's and Bo-k's I liked, so the florist gets a feel for your taste. Have fun!

Maybe you could bring a list of possible flowers you would have, (i.e. readers, centerpieces, # bo'ks, flowers for altar, etc.)

Re: Meeting with Florists - Questions
I just did this last week & here's what I walked away with -
They'll want to know - how many BMs, GMs, moms, grandmas, dads, grandpas, FG, RB & readers. - Ceremony flowers or pew bows? - # of people attending wedding & type of tables in reception room (ie. for # of CPs) - Cocktail hour flowers? Place card arrangement - Hi or low CPs
You might want to ask for prices on pictures you've seen (colors can always be changed) or something simple (ie. all rose bo-k = how many flowers & $) & compare.
I wanted to know about - no filler ok - can they get out of season flowers - liability insurance
Out of the three places they each offered to do some of these (not all) for free - cake flowers, flower girl baskets, rose petals, ladies room arrangement (which I'm using on the place card table), votive candles, boutineers, & corsages.
Hope it helps!

also - if you have a certain type of flower centerpiece- find out how many of those flowers are in there - so that way you can compare wiht other florists

Re: Meeting with Florists - Questions
Your floral arrangements add to the romantic atmosphere of your wedding and create a lasting impression for your family and guests.
Listed below are questions you should consider asking your florist before making a final decision.
Are rentals available from you? Such as: plants, trees, candelabras, archways, Chuppahs, lattice screens. Do you have photographs of some of the affairs that you have done? Do you have bridal packages? Can you show the centerpieces at various price ranges? Do you also do dried flower arrangements? Are you familiar with the reception site? How would you recommend decorating it? Do you do split shipments (i.e.: to hall, house and studio, etc.)? What are the delivery charges? Do you service the wedding (i.e.: professional set up of flowers, etc.)? Do you do out of local area weddings? How long have you been in business? Can you provide a list of references? Is a deposit required? When is the balance due? What is your cancellation policy? Do you accept credit cards? If so, which ones? How many weddings can you do in one day?

Thanks everyone for the info! I'm heading to the florist now and will ask them about everything you have all suggested.

Re: Meeting with Florists - Questions
Also ask when they get the flowers delivered to them. The fresher they are, the longer they will last on your day. For our Saturday wedding, most florists told us they would get the flowers the Thursday or Friday before - one even said Tuesday.
