she's coming to my house for dessert.. its a friend of my parents whom I've never met... I'm kinda nervous. She supplied the flowers for my grandfathers wake last year for a GREAT price and had told my mother several times that she'll do our wedding flowers and she'll only charge what we can afford.... well I know what we can afford and its not much AND i have expensive taste and I don't want to tell her something and insult her and cause an issue with my parents... plus her son just passed away about 2 months ago. her brother called my house to let my parents know, I was the one that answered the phone as they weren't home. so when I meet her do I say 'I'm sorry for your loss?' like she knows I know and I feel weird like not showing my sympathy.
urgh I'm making myself nauseous thinking about it... its not like going to a vendors place and not hitting it off or liking them then just passing on them.. its a friend of my mothers. as it is we passed on another florist that we know- kinda (FMIL works with the florists mother and he's been to the house a few years back).... but he was charging us triple what we could afford... so we had to pass.
i dont know what to say or do...
thanks for reading ladies, I just needed to get that out.

Re: meeting with the florist tomorrow... (nervous)
I would'nt be nervous; I'm sure she'll treat the situation professionally. My Uncle is doing our photography, and it isn't weird or anything. With the sending condolences...I'd follow suit with what others do. Some time has passed, maybe say it as she leaves. I don't know if that would be the way to start off? I'm not realy sure..I'm kinda awkward w/ that stuff.

I wouldn't bring up the son. I wouldn't want to be reminded of it, myself, even if it's just expressing sympathy. But other than that, try not to worry. I'm sure it will go just fine. Is your mom going to be there? Maybe she can act as a buffer. Good luck!

i dont understand why would you insult her?
as far as her son, I would only bring it up to her if this is the first time youve seen her...
theres no reason why you cant handle this one the same as any other florist... if they are too expensive, or you just dont want to use them... then dont... it was her offering to help you, you didnt beg her

yea I don't think I'll bring it up...
um, my parents actually invited her for dessert and then told me about it yesterday saying 'you need to meet joy'.. she was supposed to come for dessert 2 weeks ago, but with the holidays and her recent loss... she wasn't up to it.
