We are meeting with the Priest for the first time and I am very nervous....What is he going to ask us??? we are not big church people...what if he asks us if we go to church..what do we say?? We also have to go to a wake that night so we cannot be there for long...should we tell him so he doesnt think we are rushing???

Re: Meeting with the Priest...
We were also very nervous before our first meeting b/c we don't go to church either. Honestly, the first meeting with the priest was quick with him, he just asked a few questions about us, what we do, our plans, etc. But then he had us take the questionnaire and we had to go back a few weeks later to go over it. It wasn't so bad. I really thought it would be worse. You should check with the priest before you go to see if you are going to have to take the questionnaire that day...it takes a little while to complete and you may not have the time if you have to rush out of there.

We were really nervous too! The priest we met with was great. He asked us a few very simple yes or no questions (individually), discussed some regulations for the ceremony (no rice throwing and stuff like that), talked to us about pre-cana, asked us if we had any questions and that's about it. I think we lucked out bc I have heard of people having to fill out a questionarre with tons of questions but we didn't have to do anything like that. Good luck and try not to worry!

You'll be fine - it probably will not be as intimidating as you think. Just relax, be yourself. They might not even ask how often you go.

Re: Meeting with the Priest...
When I met with mine, he just asked questions about future plans, kids, being loyal and things like that. He did not ask about going to church (with neither of us has in a few years).

Re: Meeting with the Priest...
I had my FH totally psyched out for the meeting but it turned out to be nothing!! He told us our date was available-he asked us some questions about our parents religion. Told us about the rules of the church (no runners no flower petals being thrown etc) and the only question he asked us about marraige was if we had ever attempted marriage before. He gave us the info on Pre Cana and told us to sign up for a class that is convenient for us. That was it! I was so nervous thinking he was going to ask us about pre-marital sex, how often we attend church etc but he didnt ask any of that! Don't get too nervous I'm sure you'll be fine!

Re: Meeting with the Priest...
I was definitely in your shoes on the onset--but I was more nervous because I'm not Catholic. I thought he might act weirdly towards me....but it was the total opposite. The initial meeting was very casual, not really so obtrusive but we did take the FOCCUS thing, which if you don't have time for, would make the meeting even shorter. With the time for the test, our meeting was just short of 1 hour and 15 minutes.
