If I were to meet with Vinny, would he give me a private showcase kind of thing? or is it just a meeting to chat? how do you decide just from that meeting that he's the one for you if you don't see him in action?
Love to know what your experiences have been! Thanks!

Re: Meeting with Vinny/High Voltage
you meet with him and he will give you a breakdown of what he does, and his packages(very reasonable prices)
you can request to see a video if you want to see him in action.

Re: Meeting with Vinny/High Voltage
Since I'm planning out of state, do you think a phone conversation would be enough to get a good feel for him? And would he send the video to me?
If you booked with Vinny, could you give me an idea why you had such a good feeling about him? Thanks!

IMO, a phone call should be enough. I was nuts when it came to vendors. I looked at 25 halls, 8 photographers, 14 florists etc etc - but only one DJ - Vinny! Booked him on the spot. Vinny doesn't give you the hard sell, doesn't try to convince you that anything is a must have for your wedding. He lets YOU the bride (and FH if he is with you) decide what you need for your crowd. He'll ask - are they dancers or wallflowers? If your crowd is full of dancers, he won't throw an MC in your face and tell you that it's a must have. Same thing with everything else - lighting packages, percussionists, give-aways etc. He'll let you know what he has to offer and ask what you want.
I didn't even bother to watch the video of Vinny in action. I just 'knew' that he would put a great party together, and the reviews since I booked him, and all my conversations and emails with him have me completely confident that on Sunday my wedding is going to be a blast!!
I will add that months after I booked Vinny I saw him live and in action at LIW's Anniversary Party. He completely lived up to the hype he gets on this site!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Meeting with Vinny/High Voltage
I checked out a lot of other vendors. I didn't with Vinny. After reading all of the positive feedback on here and meeting wtih him, we knew he would be awesome. I was the type of bride that had to check out other vendors before I booked. Vinny was the only one I didn't have to do this with. DH is a musician and was totally comfortable with Vinny. I think Vinny is one of the reasons why my wedding was incredible. He did a fantastic job!

I'm in the state and did not meet with him. I booked him through speaking with him via FM, email, and telephone. I felt very confident in his abilities based on the remarkable reviews he receives on the boards. His great price was also a HUGE influence. He was a very honest, no bull-swinging type of guy, and I got that all through our communication.
I (and DH) then saw him in action at my gorgeous friend Hollie's wedding and we knew we made a great decision. Check out my review for more feedback!

Did you have him as a DJ or a DJ/MC? I'm having a fairly small wedding, so I don't see the point in getting two guys. How is he handling double-duty? I need someone who can get the crowd going, but is not pushy. Thanks!

I knew that I would book him before actually meeting with him, but I met with him anyway. He is a great vendor to work with, especially because he doesn't push you to have things that you don't need

Love you girl!
I had 165 people at my wedding and only had Vinny (plus his assistant). He was able to make all the announcements that were needed and still do a fantastic job. IMO, he is all you need.

I used him just this past weekend. He did double duty and did a great job at that!
He actually helped me with the centerpiece giveaway game and did a bit of spin on it. It worked realy well though. I played the dollar game where the one who took out the dollar will win the centerpiece while the one who got the dollar after the music stop gets to keep the dollar. Well after one round of the dollar being passed, Vinny joked that the one who had the dollar gets to give the person to his right a peck on the checks. :D
Then he continued the game and did the actual giveaway. He's such a ssweety! I'm totally confident after the meeting with him in which he gave me some nice tips and totally didn't try to sell me his services. :D

I definitely think a phone convo would be enough. He is very honest and straight forward! I fell in love with him within 1 minute of walking int he door. He didnt try to sell me anything I didnt need! I was going to meet with other DJs but I booked before I left! He is very easy going and comfortable to talk to!

Same here..... I am planning from NC, but went up to meet with him (and do some other planning) and he was just really great. I actually talked him into an MC Also, he has had some amazing reviews here.....I have mot read one bad thing. Do a search on him in the reviews and on the boards and then talk to him. I am sure you will feel good about your decision.

Re: Meeting with Vinny/High Voltage
I agree with the ladies, Vinny happened to be the 3rd DJ we saw, but once we met with him I knew he was the one we were booking. I felt as if I knew him for years as if he was a member of our family.
He has been great not only with answering any questions I have had since booking, but also even asking me how my FH was doing after his surgery earlier this year. He really makes you feel like you're not just another bride.
