well he .... LOVED his first day he was like a little kid in a candy store when he got home!!
turns out one of the 07'ers FHs is also in his pct. and they havent met yet but i thought it was cool... when he got there one of his dads friends happens to also work there so he felt a little more comfy!!! but he said everyone was really nice and willing to help there are only 7 rookies which is good and they are all working the same shift
he will be working 6pm-2am.. which is actually really perfect cuz i work nights as well! not that late but we have no lost time which we have now
other then that it was a good 1st day

about the gun.. at first i was really upset that it would be in my house. i have never in my life had a gun in my house and i was very nervous and upset that he feels its necessary to have it with him at ALL times.
he grew up with a gun in his house his father is a retired NYPD police officer as well so it didnt phase him having the gun.
im getting used to seeing it and having it in my house but i have rules. When he is in my house it comes off and goes right into a safe. Thank god he respects that other wise wed have some serious problems!

thats very good that he respects that...there are many different views on guns and having it in the household and i dont know if i would ever be comfortable with having fh have one in the house so lets hope u never comes home with one lol

So happy to hear that it went well! I was actually wondering about him today. And I'm glad that he's so reasonable about the gun thing, not all gun owners are like that, and it's nice to see that he respects your feelings about it.

honestly thats how i felt and i still kinda do. it will totally change once there are babies in the house. that gun will not be in the house nor will my children know where the safe is if it has to be in the house. i never thought i would allow it in the house but to be honest i also have to respect him and his career so there was alot of compromising going on but we came to an agreement and its just that it MUST be in the safe at all times! i eventually will need to learn how to use it since it will be in my house. but im hesitant to this since im scared of them.

Re: Megan (Soon2BeMrsD)
my dad is retired from N Y Dept of Correction.
I am used to a gun being in my house, but from a very young age me and my brothers had the talk about guns.. and never to touch them.
and i can honestly say, my father following the same rules you seem to have put into place... I can count on one hand the number of times I actually even saw it...
It was ALWAYS locked in a safe, and in a locked drawer...

Re: Megan (Soon2BeMrsD)
yup.. see FILs have much more relaxed rules about it.. but its just bad habbits and i wont allow that cuz if he gets into those habbits now its going to stick and then when the babies start coming its going to be harder to not do that...
his father just leaves he gun laying around it drives me crazy!!!! its on top of the china closet where everyone can see it.. i just dont believe in that nor do i think its safe. so im setting ground rules now.. granted his children are all over 21. but I wont bring my children there if the gun is out. and that will be another conversation when the time comes
