So I posted on the Brides helping brides board a few weeks ago and I just want to see what you guys think. My sister who would have been my MOH passed away last November. I want to do something to remember her by at my wedding. I am going to do the candle for our the special people we lost and a memory table but I wanted to do something special just for her since she is a huge part of my life. Her 2 boys will be my RB and her husband is going to walk my mom down the aisle most likely. People gave some ideas but I wasnt crazy about some of them. I hate the dove idea because i'm not a bird fan. I like the butterfly one but people said a lot of the times they end up dead? I only wanted to release on butterfly b/c it was Erin's favorite not a bunch like a lot of other people have done. What do you guys think? Any other ideas??
the pic of my sister at my cousins weddng in Georgia <3 <3
First of let me extend my deepest sympathy for you and your family.
As far as your question I like the release of 1 butterfly but I would be concerned if it makes enough of an impact. Another thing you can do is attach a picture of your sister to ur b'ok. But this is more of a private gesture.
Hope I helped

I am so sorry for your loss. The butterfly idea sounds so cute, another idea could be put together a little slide show of pix of her and your fam and play it during your reception sometime. I saw this done for a friend that was in iraq during their wedding it turned out so cute! and then they did a toast for him after. GL!

I thought of the slide show, but then I know how i can get and i figured I will honor and remember her at the ceremony because It will be hard. The reception it might bring me down a bit. I also heard of people putting a single white rose in the center pieces in remembrance. Ever hear of that?

I have that would be cute!!! I know you mentioned that she was married maybe you could wear something she wore at her wedding or something like that a favorite piece of jewlery or something. You could also do something in rememberance of her for your favors like donate to a orginization she liked or something.

Re: Memorial
Your sister was beautiful, I'm so sorry your family has been through losing her.
I dunno if you're getting married in church or at the RH, but you could attach something special like a special bow or flower to the ends of the pews/aisle rows when you decorate and then indicate in the program what it symbolizes with a cute poem or a special quote?
ETA: since they were her favorite, you could attach little, fake butterflies to your pew decorations.. even if they're just white, they can be tastefully done to blend in Or stand out, however you choose to do it...

I might wear the earings she wore but I am not sure. I have her diamond earings that I don't wear. I was thinking on putting them into my wedding band but it turned out my FH already bought my wedding band as a suprise.

I am so sorry that you had to go through this. She will be your guardian angel for the rest of your life though. 0: - ) I know you said you are doing a candle. I was going to mention the slideshow but that might be very upsetting. How about a table with the candle & your favorite pictures of her, alone, with you, with the family etc? ..what a beautiful girl I might add.

Re: Memorial
Can you do something with her wedding dress? Maybe wrap your flower stems in her wedding dress train?
I saw a beautiful picture pin attached to someone's flowers
Oh you said she loved butterflies what if you added a small butterfly to each girls flowers and maybe two to yours. I will google pics to see if you can see what I am picturing in my mind.
That is realllly pretty!! Thank you guys for all the ideas!!!
Thats why this website is awesome and 2011 brides!!!!!

What if you put some kind of a butterfly pin or butterfly thing as part of your bouquet? Then it will be really visible but not overtake the whole decor and will be close to you for the ceremony and everything.

So sorry about your sister
LOVE the idea of the white rose in the centerpieces! Also, consider putting a bo-k charm with her photo on your bo-k. Maybe you can borrow her diamond earrings as your something borrowed?
