ok so here is my question... i want to set up a table at the reception in honor of my grandpa who has passed away (mom's dad) and my 2 gradparents (dad's parents). but i dont know how i should do this? just have one big candle with a poem and their 3 names below, or have one candle for just my moms dad and another candle for my dads parents? or just do it all in the same candle with the poem? im confused and was wondering how everyone else did theirs? and dont know if i should put pictures of their wedding on the same table as the memory candle? since my grandma is still alive (moms mom). and i wanted to put pictures up of our both parents wedding, but dont know if itll look weird having it all on the same table with the memorial candles and grandparents wedding pictures?? please help ladies!!
ps: and on the program.. should i put their names in the memorial section at the end as many of you ive heard did this??

Re: memorial candle help!!!! :(
I have a few memorials Im doing too. I am having one big candle with a poem and all of their names underneath. If I were you, I would put the memorials in one corner of the table and the wedding pics on the other...angle them in towards the center and put something pretty in between. I would also add them in the memorial section of your programs, that'll be nice HTH

thanks girls, keep them coming.. its helping me out a lot! :)
so if i did one table with the placecards/or i might do that seating chart instead so i prolly wont need a table for it, dunno? and than another table of just the wedding pictures of our parents wedding and our engagement picture and than on the other side of the table as somone suggested doing the memorial candles with those grandparents wedding pictures.. this should be ok and look nice?? :)

Re: memorial candle help!!!! :(
This was previously posted adn its from my friends wedding 2 years ago. It looked really nice. Mine are just not going to have the ribbon on it
however, i've seen it done this way (though i'm sure you can do it anyway you want :o) :
there was a pillar candle and on it the bride had glued vellum with a meaningful poem. In picture frames near the candle, she had put two pictures frames with her favorite pictures of those that aren't physically present any longer.
also, though we aren't doing a candle, in the programs i'm making, i put this: (we're having our wedding by the beach...)
'We Remember:
All of those that are no longer physically with us. Your presence resonates in every wave, every grain of sand, every ray of sunlight and every breath of wind. You remind us to smile daily and love fully'
We're not listing names though, unfortunately ...there are many people and it would be too sad for us. it was better for us to leave it nameless...
HTH :o)

Re: memorial candle help!!!! :(
very cute idea! :)
so i think i have decided and what im thinking of doing is... im going to set a table up at the reception and on one corner of the table i will have a picture of my grandpa (possible of his wedidng with my grandma, or maybe just one alone of him!?) i might do him and my grandma of their wedding picture in a frame (my grandma is still alive) and than a picture of him alone put on the actual candle that will have a nice poem and his name lit for him. and than another picture frame of my dads parents (who poth have passed) of their wedding and then the candle with their poem on it lit by their picture. than also a seperate big candle lit with a big poem i have to put on there and this candle will be in the middle between of all of this...
than on the other corner/side of the table is where i will have a picture of our engagement, along with a wedding picture of my parents wedding and FH parents wedding.
what do you girls say about this? i think this is ok right? and than have like a nice centerpeice of flowers in the middle/center of the table to seperate the memorial side from the parents wedding pictures! :)
tell me what you girls this of this idea...

Re: memorial candle help!!!! :(
and one other thing i forgot to ask you girls... have you ladies usually seen this table set up near the bride and grooms table and or cake table, or at the entrance of the room where also the seating chart or place cards will be (but in a seperate table - maybe another table across from the memorial candle table)!?

Re: memorial candle help!!!! :(
I think if I were to do something like this, I would just have one candle for everyone. It keeps it elegant and thoughtfull, not too much.
I lost my sister and all I am going to do it take a favorite neclace of hers and wrap it on my boquet.
I think its a really nice touch that you want to have a candle burning during the reception.
I can tell you what IM thinking and give you a different perspective to all this.
I was thinking of doing a lot of things. I have lost all my grandparents and so had FH. But the closest and most hurful has been my sister. In the long run the FH and I both decided that we are not goign to do anything. No names in programs, no mention of them during the service, nothing during the reception. The only thing im doing is wrapping the stem of my boquet with my sisters fav neclace. That way she is with me. I didnt want a reminder during all of this. Its a happy day and I WANT to be happy. I dont need to keep staring at an empty chair or a burning candle. For me it would be a constant sad reminder on the happiest day. I also live by the mantra that she would want me to be happy and live my life. She would NOT want me sad during my wedding. *I* would be. That does NOT mean you would be.
So I want to be super crystal clear that what you are doing is great, and I admire it!!! I just want to give you a different perspective in case you wanted to think about a different choice or option.
