Memorial Candle Question

Memorial Candle Question

I am going to make a memorial candle for my father who passed away 1 1/2 years ago. I can't think of anything to write on the candle. Nothing seems good enough or special enough. I wish he could be at my wedding more than anything in the world, so I guess I just want to get the wording right and do him justice. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Memorial Candle Question

you can just have a plain candle in a holder with a pic of your dad .......or maybe just have a candle with a not saying .......

This candle burns for all of those who could not be with us today...but are with us in spirit?

i have also seen people leave an ampty seat or spot in a pew for that person and have someone leave a rose on it to symobolize them

I'm sorry for your loss . I really thought it would be a nice touch, but I am sitting here trying to figure out wording and it's making me really sad and upset. Just putting his name seems too cold. I don't know what to do.

Re: Memorial Candle Question

I typed this up with our family members names on it and it will be framed next to our candle and vase with flowers.....
This is what we're using.....

In Loving Memory

We thought of you with love today
But that is nothing new
We thought about you yesterday
And days before that too
We think of you in silence
We often speak your names
Those we love don’t go away
They’re with us everyday
Unseen, unheard, but always there
Although it seems unfair
Your memory is our keepsake
With which we'll never part
God has you in his keeping
You’re forever in our hearts

Hope this helps....

That saying is very nice. I know that no saying will make me feel any better about not having him there, it's just that I want it to be as perfect as can be. Thanks for your suggestion.

Re: Memorial Candle Question

I'm just having a single candle next to my grandparent's wedding picture. There will be a mention of them in the ceremony and in the program. I'm going to write a piece myself, but it's emotionally draining. I go into a bad depression when I think about my grandmother (it hasn't even been a year since she has been gone).

I wish I could be more of a help.
