i know everyone has a different situation and it's totally my call and i should do what i want, but did you include every single family member/friend that passed away or only those that really meant the world to you?

Re: memorial candle question
I included immediate family, grandparents or anyone else who is in your close knit.
If there are a lot of people you want to include you can have a general memorial candle and not list the names.
FH and I are doing two, one for my side and one for his.
Hope that helps.
Etsy has some great memorial candles.

thank you.
i am working with leigh anne from etsy; she designed my unity candle and it's amazing.
i also decided to go with two memorial candles -- one for each family.
my fiance said that it takes away from the special meaning of the candle if i include everyone that passed away in my family.
ugh, i don't know what to do.

Honestly, its really up to you. If you have x number of people that you really want to list you can list them and say something like:
In loving memory of x person and all those we love and lost...something like that.

Re: memorial candle question
I feel like this definitely depends on the person who has passed.
For example, My mother passed away and what I do to memorialize her is going to be only for her because thats the brides mother. Any other random relative would cheapen it, in my opinion.
If the people aren't as immediate, I would lump them together, and only do the super important ones that you and FH are genuinely close with that are missing the day.

Re: memorial candle question
I think this is a great idea. Where does the candle go, in the reception room?

Re: memorial candle question
I didn't put anyones name for fear of offending someone or leaving someone off because it would have been crazy to list everyone.
so the candle said 'for those who could not be with us here today'
and then the poem
'Love, Jessica and Jason 2/19/11'

Re: memorial candle question
I made my own memorial candles and they came out amazing and elegant :) Supplies from Michael's and AC Moore. I'll post a pic tonight or tomorrow.
As far as how many, for me, I decided to not go crazy eventhough I wanted one for everyone bc they all meant so much to me. (great gpa, 2 uncles, great gma, gma, gpa, and family dog) In the end, I decided to only do 3 (ggma 2010, gma 2009, and gpa 2005) because they meant the most to me and they were the most recent.
I've seen really nice set ups with one candle for each family with a short quote and all the names on it as well as small pic frames for each family member.
