Re: Memorial Day weekend brides

I sent out my STDs about a year in advance, I blocked the rooms when I booked the RH and I will include the hotel info when I send Invites, I didn't put it with the STDs.

You were able to block rooms without giving a number?

Re: Memorial Day weekend brides

Im May 28th ... Mostly everyone knew our wedding date, but we officially sent Save the Dates 8 months in advance. Etiquette says since it is a holiday weekend you can do so a year in advance. I felt like it was a little much to send them so far in advance plus I had them custom made so it was worth the wait! We did our hotel block pretty quickly. We went with one hotel and then cancelled it and went with another. We sent all our out of town guests the hotel block information early via email. The rest will receive it via their invites. We blocked 10 rooms which was enough without having to pay. We are nearly booked already! They hold the rooms until 2 months prior to the event.

Happy to help!

I totally think its fine. As I said I am May 28th and we sent ours at the end of October. Everyone loved them and honestly not one person has said they cant make it!

i don't have a holiday weekend wedding, but as far as sending out hotel block info- i sent mine with my STDs because 2/3 of my wedding is traveling (and you don't have to pay until checkin)- so depending on the number of people you have from out of town i might send them out with the STDs

i think this depends on the hotel you choose... i originally put 40 rooms on hold and then increased it recently and they don't require that i fill all of the rooms in the block- i don't have to pay for any unfilled or cancelled rooms

We did our STDs about 8months I think. We waited until we finalized the room block. We printed cards with the room block info. It's really important for us because they have to book before April 12th, which is many weeks before the wedding!

Re: Memorial Day weekend brides

I was a 2010 Memorial Day Weekend Bride.

I sent out STDS in December
I mailed out invites late March ( I wish I could have sent them out a bit earlier though)
I included the room block with the STD and then again with the invite. Many people booked their rooms very early on once they got their STD

Re: Memorial Day weekend brides

I am not a holiday weekend, bit we send ours out at 8 months. I would have done closer to 10 if it were a holiday- I just feel like Memorial Day isn't one of those holidays that people plan super far in advance for!

What we did was put our wedding website on the STD, and then we were able to update the registry info, hotel info, directions, etc on there. We did not have a block when the STDs were sent, but blocked the rooms soon after- and I know people have already started booking them
