Memorializing someone who has passed away...

As some of you may know one of our GM passed away recently. FH really wants to put together some ways of memorialzing his friend. I say we can place 'In loving memory of... in our program and also have the priest mention his name during the mass. We also thought maybe at the reception the DJ can play a requested song or something. Any more ideas?

You could do an 'In memory of' candle and light that together at the church in honor of him. Otherwise I think all of your ideas are a great way to remember him.

Your ideas are a great way to remember him, but you have to be careful not to overdo it. It is a happy occassion that you do not want to overshadow with grief, although this is a very recent occurrance.

Today actually marks the third anniversary of my mom's death, and to remember her at my wedding, I am putting a charm with her picture on my bo-k, I am having a memorial candle, and the officiant will offer a special rememberance as we light the candle. If we do programs, then we will make a mention of her as well.

Privately, I will either be wearing her wedding ring, or pinning it inside my gown. The day after the wedding, we will visit the cemetery and place a mini version of my bo-k on her grave.

It is going to be a difficult day without her there, and I just don't want to make it sad for me to the point where someone mentions my mom and I start to cry.

sorry to hear
as for a memorial, i think its appropriate to mention his name at the ceremony and maybe a candle.
my FH lost both of his parents not too long ago.. and he said he didnt want anything.. its too upsetting for him. he wants it to be a happy time.

I saw on a show that the groom put a single rose on the chair that the person was suppose to sit on. That was really nice.
