Ok, I've never been to a wedding where they lit a memory candle, so I don't know where it fits into the ceremony. And how do you do it? Do you light the candle to music? And can this be done at a Catholic ceremony? I know the church is pretty strict about certain things.
I really want to do the memory candle for FH's mom who passed away a few years ago

Re: Memory candle question
Ask your officiant for suggestions. We didn't light ours during our ceremony. We had it on a table with our guest plate during the reception.

Re: Memory candle question
FH and I will be lighting memorial candle for my brother once I come down the isle, before the actual ceremony begins. The priest will announce what we are doing. We have decided not to use music because it will be too emotional.

Re: Memory candle question
My sisters wedding was a catholic one and they lit teh candle shortly after the lighting of teh unity candle, the priest actually announced that paul would be lighting the candle in memory of his father. It was beautiful and meant alot to them.

Re: Memory candle question
We're doing the memory lighting at the same time as the unity candle lighting. We selected Ava Maria for the music.

Ok - great info. I have a message in to the Deacon at my church asking about the memory candle, but this helps in the meantime

Re: Memory candle question
We are not sure if we will do it when we light the unity candle or if FH will do it alone before the ceremony starts (w/o mentioning it) Probably the latter b/c FH doesn't want it to be a production (it is for his father).
We will then take it to the reception and have it lit on our table throughout the night
