Did anyone do a remembrance candle? If so do they just mention the people its for or can they mention them and then play a song? I went them to mention my mother then play ava maria.

Re: memory candles
I want to do the same thing in my mother's memory. I am having my best friend sing Ave Maria (a song my mother loved) at the church during the ceremony. I am hoping I just don't lose it!!!
Good question, I guess that we could do anything we wanted. There should not be hard and fast rules about what you can and can't do. I want to have the candle burning in her memory both during the ceremony and at the reception.
I wanted to get a special candle or perhaps have a picture of her and me (is that corny?) I bought a special candle pedestal that fits my fall wedding theme...that will hold the memorial candle. Did you get your candle yet? If so, what's it look like? Thanks!

No its not corny that you want a picture of you and your mom there not at all!!!!! I have not bought my candle yet i was thinking of doing it myself, because i want her name on it, I read on here that someone was actually printing their owm on vellum and then wraping it around the candle and using ribbon i thought that was a good idea. I also saw this holder which i liked. As far as the ava maria i love that song and i know for a fact im going to lose it!!! I just want to honor my mom in anyway i can.
That sounds beautiful, I'd like to do that for my FH's mom. Also, I've heard some people leave an open seat for their passed loved ones at the ceremony, you could put a picture of her on it.

Re: memory candles
I'm looking to do one for my Mom & FH's Grandmother too.
I've always wanted Ave Maria played, but unfortunately this is one song that I can sob uncontrollably to. I know that day I'll be an emotional mess to begin with.
During the ceremony the Priest is going to mention my Mom. Plus I plan on reserving an open chair for her with 'falling leaves' and a flower.

Re: memory candles
I LOVE the idea of the open seat with the rose on it.....LOVE IT!!!! but my dad has remarried and i think that would just make him feel bad...so i am not doing it.
