We went to Mens Warehouse this weekend to look at tuxes. I was surprised that they didn't have any to try one there. You order out of a book. Was this a problem for anyone? I wont to make sure that the tux will look good on FH before we order it. Also they didn't seem to have a big selection. Is this how it is all over? I heard really good things about Men's Warehouse, so I was hoping to use them.

Re: Mens Wearhouse
I was under the impression that most places are like that. They only have these standard jackets to try on for fitting purposes, but don't have whole tuxedoes to try on before you order....

Re: Mens Wearhouse
when we went there was nothing to try on, and we picked out of a book. we figure as long as the measurements are right he'll look good. he's wore suits before so he knows which type of jacket looks good on him. plus half the GM are in florida so its more convienent.

Re: Mens Wearhouse
FH and I went to menswearhouse and they tried to help us as much as they could (FH's dad is in Poland, so we had all European mesurements). We also went to Zellers and it was the same thing there...you have to know what look you want, and then choose it out of the book...they were no help at all. In the end, we ended up going with menswearhouse because they were the most affordable, and really tried to work with us.

Re: Mens Wearhouse
We got the tuxes from Men's Warehouse ... DH tried on a normal jacket to get the idea - but the tuxes are really nice!! We went with the Super 100's since it was summer. ..

Re: Mens Wearhouse
Here is a copy of my post on another Mens Wearhouse thread.
Edited to clarify: FH was able to try on the sample of the exact tux that he is going to be wearing the day of @ RSVP.
Here is the post When we went to After Hours, we were pretty much ingnored. So we left after about 15 minutes.
Then we went to Mens Warehouse & they did not have anything for FH to try on. He picked out stuff from their book (which is how you order) & then told them we would be back because I forgot to bring the swatch to match the vests to my girls dresses. In the end i decided not to go back because FH & I both wanted him to be able to try on the tuxes.
It is similar to our dresses, would you have ordered your dress without trying on a sample first? A tux may look good on a model in a book, but that does not mean that it will look good on FH.
We ended up going to RSVP Tuxedos, which is who we used when FH went to my prom with me. We had a good experience with them.
I am so happy we went there. We got FH tux for free, our Jr. Groomsman's tux for Free (we are not having a ringbearer) & $50 off my Dad's Tux.
As for our 2 GM in FL, they gave us a small envelop/form to mail to them for their measurements. They can go to any tuxedo place to be mearsured & then they mail the measurements directly to RSVP Tuxedos.
JMO though! HTH!!

Re: Mens Wearhouse
I am really glad that FH was able to try on the tuxes because we changed his vest because we thought it looked better. FH originally want a white vest. As soon as I saw the white vest on him I hated it & we changed it to platinum, which i loved on FH.
If we had went with mens wearhouse FH would have ended up with the white vest because he thought it would like nice on him because of houw it looked in pictures on other grooms or models. For this I am glad he was able to see it on himself and then make the change now instead of teh day before the wedding!

Re: Mens Wearhouse
FH and I went to S&S tuxedos in Hicksville and tired on lots of different tux vests, jackets and ties. They were very helpful and had a large selection. FH thought he knew what he liked but ended up with something completely different.

Re: Mens Wearhouse
we ran into the same problem.. the girl said because it was prom season/wedding season a lot of the tuxes were bought and they didnt have much in the store to try on..
FH has an athletic built(thats what the girl called it because he has broad shoulders) the jacket they gave him to try that would be similar to the one we picked fit him funny across the back..
IMO at least for FH tux its good to try on because they can only do minimal alterations on rented tuxes!
we didnt end up using them.. but found the same type of tux for the same $$ elsewhere..

Re: Mens Wearhouse
I had the same reaction and then we went to After Hours and they were the same. They had a few jackets for FH to try on, but that was about it.
We ended up going with After Hours anyway. So here's hoping....

Re: Mens Wearhouse
I was bummed at not having FI be able to try a tux on with Mens Wharehouse too but he's been in so many weddings that we sort of knew what he wanted to wear. I just liked the fact that the GM can get fitted and pick up their tuxes in any state which is SUPER convienent for them! We used the $20 off coupon from their website and got FI's free. Plus they allowed up to return the tux 2 days after the wedding at no additional fee instead of the usual next day return policy!

Re: Mens Wearhouse
This happened to us when we went to Men's Wearhouse and to After Hours. My FH was like, wait a second, I want to see how I will look on the day of my wedding! (Even if you can try on the sample of the jacket, they would NOT let him try on the shirts, ties, vest, etc, so he really wouldn't get the whole look).
So we went elsewhere. This was really important to us. We ended up with Tuxedo Park in Carle Place. Awesome service, great tuxes, prices are higher than MW and After Hours, but it's worth it.

Re: Mens Wearhouse
They measure, then have the tux a few days before to tailor for the guys.
