we starting planning our menu yesterday. they gave us a choice between appetizer then salad or app/salad combo. i don't know which one to choose. i guess there are pros and cons of both. any opinions?
The combo works nicely, because after the cocktail hour, people are not all that hungry for both an app and then salad... just my suggestion.
The combo is nice, because you get more dancing time, instead of announcing twice, for appetizer and then salad. Or if you have both, it seems like more food. It really is a personal opinion.
We ended up choosing to have both the app and the salad because we liked those choices better. The combo didn't appeal to us as much. Although, I did want to limit the interruptions of the dancing!
I am having both- separate courses.
We will be having a separate salad and appetizer. Seems to work with all the special diet requests.
I would go with it separate. Too much clutter on the tables with both.

Liz I would say it depends on what your choices are. I agree that people might not need both app and salad but if the choices are better it might more enjoyable for them to pick at the both then have a app/salad that is not as good.
I think less is sometimes more....if the presentation is right!

We did both. It still went pretty quickly. I am guessing if you do combo they don't put as much out as it would be a little cluttering. So that would be a disadvantage to it considering I am sure they charge the same for both ways. You might just get a little more out of it doing it separately.
we are doing them seperately. We are actually having app, salad, pasta dish, entree and dessert : ).
I did them as the combo- it worked out very nicely because our cocktail hour was INSANE. There was so so so much food!
