For anyone who needs help with this here is a website for making your own menu cards. It even has templates you can download and use in Microsoft Word.

I wanted to do menu cards but then my Mom said that if people got advanced notice of the menu that the guests would complain- or at least my family- they are crazy

IMO I like to know the menu at a reception from the moment I sit down this way I know whats coming and I can think about what I would like for my main course. It adds a nice extra touch to the reception.

My family are so annoying- they'd probably be annoying saying- I don't want a pear and walnut salad, I want plain, or I don't want red snapper, can I have shrimp.

Are a lot of people doing menu cards? I keep going back and forth? Is it important? My mother said it is crazy to do it in a country club where the focus isn't on the food. A catering hall, she said, is different. What do you think?

I am def doing menu cards. You do not have to , but I think that it is an elegant touch.

I'm bookmarking this now! Great site! And as an aside almost all the weddings I have gone to recently have done menu cards and I think it is such a nice touch!
