Menu options ON the invitation???

Menu options ON the invitation???

Please don't ask me why in the world this is becoming my problem, but my FSIL is trying to order invitations for my shower and seems to be having issues! Apparently, they have to order the meals before the day of the shower, so they want people to RSVP AND tell them what they want for lunch. How can they ask people what they want for lunch on the invitatioon without it looking tacky??? Suggestions PLEASE!!

IF it's necessary...I would put it on a different piece of paper...I *personally* wouldn't put it on the invite.

Tell me about it! It's going to look ridiculous!

A lot of place outside of NY do this - don't sweat it! You put the menu choices on the RSVP card (if there is one) with a space before it to indicate how many of each everyone wants! Hope this helps!

That would be fine to put it on the RSVP card, but right on the invitation??? She isn't having an RSVP card, so she wants to out it on the invite.

I wouldn't put it on the invite - i agree - even if you need to print it on the computer - put it on a seperate piece of paper. I'm assuming then that it is a phone RSVP? A piece of paper should suffice

Maybe when they call to RSVP the person they are calling to politely tell them that they have to inform the caterer of what each person will be eating and if they would let them know. That way if it isn't a HUGE number of people you could do it without putting it in the invites

Oh, that RSVP card would be good.

If she's against doing that, then try to convince her to slip a piece of paper into the invitation with the options & a brief explanation. I really don't think it should be directly onthe invite.

I agree with the suggestion to make an insert or a nicely phrased comment on the left hand side of the invite about ordering the meals so the guests are not caught off guard when they call to RSVP.

I also don't think you should have to worry about your shower invitations. The host of the shower should figure this out.

Maybe you could put- please rsvp with you food choice.
I just went to an event out of state and had to rsvp with my choice- I am also going to a graduation at a fancy hotel in NYC tomorrow and had to choose in advance. It is nit usually done in NY, but it is not that unusual.

Anyone remember that comercial where the bride is going through the rsvp's saying 'chicken, chicken chicken, beef? 100 chickens and one beef'

Good news - I got her to agree to make an insert (actually, I got her to agree to let ME make the insert ) What should it say?

I was thinking:

Please RSVP with your menu choice:
1
2
3

How does that sound?

My poor FSIL is doing the best she can. It's her mom who is the real problem - slow as molasses in planning these things and clueless about ettiquette!

The reason I don't care that much about helping is that my mom is having my 'real' shower for me in the fall!

i think your wording is fine. i wouldn't rely on asking people when they RSVP - what if they call when no one is home and get the machine??? you would have to track this people down - i could see it becoming a big headache.

I would put it on the rsvp card.

It sounds perfect.

Not on the invite if it were me. Maybe a seperate card.

Much better idea-have her call people individually.
