So, FI was waiting and waiting to ask friends to be GM and he finally did. First we asked if they were coming to the wedding (since we all just graduated he wanted to wait), most said it depended on where they were in November. So we (I) said, if they are available we would love for them to be in the wedding and to be his GM. Then, they all stared at us. NO ONE responded. One guy said 'that would be tight' and then they changed the subject.
WHO DOES THAT! So, what does that mean... I would like to know.

That's weird. Guys are like that. One GM wanted to know who else would be the GM before he signed up. Just chalk it up to them being emotionally retarted.

We don't really have that problem. Mostly because my FI is only considering people that are thrilled we are getting married and plan on putting aside all of thier plans for our wedding. Does your FI have any guys like that. Honestly, my attitude has been, hey you don't like when we are getting married (it is in the middle of the school year and most friends will still be taking classes) and think it is an inconvience, then you don't get invited. One less person I have to pay for!

I think that your FH should tell them that if they don't want to do it, then you need to know, and if they do want to do it, they need to be sure they will be able to and not back out at the last minute.
ETA: If he won't do it, then you need to! You need to know for limos and stuff!

I know! The thing is I dont htink its that they dont want to, I think maybe they just didnt know how to respond. And I feel bad being the only one asking. And I know FI wont ask again. It was just so strange. NO ONE responded.

Yeah, when my FH told his brother we got engaged, he responded with 'Congratulations, I guess, and then when he asked him to be his best man, he didn't even respond, he just said, 'When's the wedding?'

Tell me about it! We've got 3 1/2 months until our wedding and FH hasn't even asked his friend to be his best man! I don't know what he's waiting for...I may just ask him myself!

Men are so weird!!!!! Thank god after MONTHS of putting it off I finally got FH to call everyone up and ask! Thankfully they all responded with yes instead of a grunt!

FI still has not asked the 3rd guy to be a GM. He's been putting it off because 'it doesn't feel right.' I think FI was mad b/c this guy didn't return one of his emails quickly enough and they don't talk as much anymore. I told him he can wait if he wants or we can go with 2 GM. The other 2, a friend from law school and a coworker, both responded very enthusiastically, which was great. Guys are so weird sometimes.

fi didn't even ask anyone yet, he has 2 brothers and i have one bro & 1 sis, both are in the wedding, to me that is automatic. his bro is the best man, but he has yet to tell him this. he may never; that's the way he is. i already asked all my bm's and my moh. the problem is my dear, sweet fh cannot choose who else he wants as his last gm. so, fmil keeps saying, over and over and over again, if you ask so& so (fh cousin) i'm sure his wife would be honored to be one of the bm's. hello, shouldn't it be someone i choose, and why do they have to come as a pair. i've told her again and again that i would like someone eles from my side of the fam...i'm sure that she will bring it up at least 3 more times before he actually asks the last gm. it just gets me sooo mad!!! sorry for the ranting & raving, just had to get that off my chest.
