i thought the price was a bit high...and they were only willing to negotiate $200 off....
- 5 hrs music (1 hr cocktail, 4 hr reception ) mandatory dj & mc $1395 - gobo $250 - photo montage on projection screen $850 - rolling uplighting (12 pieces) rotates through various types of colors $1500
Grand total $3995.....
i'm thinking this is way too much especially since my friend only paid $2100 last month...(her dj was ok, but not great, there were technical problems)
anyway, meeting w/2 more...need advice ladies!

meet with Greekwave.com they are vendors here. speak to george. hes phenominal, reallllllllly knows his stuff!. dont let the name throw you off, he dj's non greek events,too.

I am paying $1000 for DJ and MC $125 for gobo $800 for montage $45/per uplight (various colors) (I am am getting 6 so it's $270)

We hired Bravura... but our prices are sort of what you were quoted, and might be too high.
3800.00 includes:
4 hour dj/mc and ceremony music CH jazz band uplighting live singer during dinner hour percussionist and sax

i'm not doing uplighting and my photographer is doing my photo montage (for $250) and mines at $1700. Soooo i dont know about the extras but the dj/mc rate part looks decent to me!

i think it sounds high, it doesn't seem like you included any live musicians or anything....also the lighting seems really high.

What is gobo?
That does sound very high. The price for the DJ & MC alone is very high! I have my DJ/MC for six hours and it's way less. The lighting sounds high as well. If you want to save money, I would look into cutting out the photo montage. If you think about it, it only lasts about 3-4 minutes and it's a ton of money.
