So tonight FH and I met with one half of our officiants tonight.
We met with Monsignore Lisante from Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Massapequa Park....WE LOVE HIM!!! going in I was a little uncomfortable and nervous since I am jewish, meeting with a clergy of the Catholic Church was a little nerve racking... I must say i was SOOO comfortable when we met with him.
He made me feel so comfortable and i am so excited for our ceremony now... it is going to be an interfaith ceremony but it will be about me and FH not based solely around religion. There will be things from both but the ceremony will be all about the love FH and I have for each other.
what makes me even happier(because Fh is thrilled about it) is that our marriage will be recognized by the Catholic Church ( the Diocese of Rockville Center)
We will be meeting with the Rabbi he works with in a couple of days. Hopefully we feel the same way about him
WOOO HOOO!!!!!!

question though, how are you guys managing to pull it off that you ceremony will be recognized in the catholic church? ar eyou getting married in the church?

nope.. The monsignore and the Dioces of Rockville Center worked something out that if we follow all the steps that must be taken to get married in a church (FH has babtismal certificates, we go to an interfaith pre cana the rabbi and priest conduct, and FH signs some papers saying he plans to stay of the same religion) it would not be an issue and it would be recognized..
It seems Fh went to i guess you can say close to the top of the ladder to make the marriage valid... I was pretty surprised myself but the monsignor assured us it would be....

Is that thier catholic school right across the street? when we went there were sooo many people!

Yes, but they closed the school due to low enrollment.. Im not sure what was going on when you were there.. I pretty much grew up accross the street!

Definatly give him a call! I really cant remember exactly but im pretty sure he mentioned about doing ceremonies outside the church for a catholic couple.. i could be mistaken though....
