so he's not letting us pick our own readings... he said he's the priest, therefore he will pick the gospel
he said we cant just ask fam members to read bc he needs to confirm that they're 'capable of reading the word of the lord'
did anyone have these problems w/their church?

NO! That's insane. Our priest chose the gospel reading and I was more than happy to let him. He chose the very traditional wedding reading where Jesus turns the water to wine, and I'm 90% sure that's what your priest will choose. But to tell you that you can't just choose any family member to do the readings is insane! They didn't tell you any of this when you first booked?

We chose all of our readings and readers (no questions asked). Sorry you have to deal with this because you shouldn't!

WOW! That'[s crazy! We chose all readings INCLUDING the gospel and I had a friend of mine who is Jewish read the old testament. I also had a cousin read the prayer of the faithful.

As far as him having to make sure your readers are 'Capable of reading the words of the lord', I thought the church was supposed to have open arms to everyone. Sounds like a power trip to me.

Re: met w/priest last night
that sucks.
we didn't have this problem ... our priest is like the super most lax priest ever.
i think you should definitelt be able to pick out your own readings and *** ... don't all churches give out those booklets with all the readings and stuff specifically FOR this purpose!?
