I have heard that the food is good from someone who used to bartend there. The room is also pretty and I believe they only do one wedding at a time. The problem I feel is the area. It is located in Glen Cove which is an ugly area. It is located directly across from this huge construction site for an apartment building. So the outside ****s. But as I said, the inside is supposed to be elegant. I think it is worth a trip. I also know someone getting married there and I don't think he is the type of person to spend a lot of money.

Re: metropolitan in glen cove
As far as I know the food is pretty good. Across the street from the entrance is a park area, but it is surrounded by parking lots and other areas. The construction site she mentioned is across the street, but I can't recall exactly how close to the building. Also, you could see if they will be done building by the time you'll be there. If you'll be having the reception at night though-who'll notice? I have no idea about cost or capacity.
To my fellow responder, ry not to use ****s to describe an aspect of a place that your fellow liweddings mates may be spending the most important day of their lives. We should try not to be quite so harsh about a place we don't like.
Glen Cove is not an 'ugly area'. It is a large town not comprised of just that block. The Harrison House is located on a long secluded, flowering, road that's beautiful with 55 acres of land. Glen Cove is part of the old Gold Coast and has plenty of beautiful old homes and mansions which are still occupied by extremely wealthy and influential families...

Re: metropolitan in glen cove
My cousin was married there.
As far as the outside, it was a night wedding. I have no clue what it was like or what was across the street.
The food was fine. In fact I remember there was something food wise that we really loved. But it has been 5 1/2 years so what it was exactly I don't remember.
The upstairs is tight if you are having a big wedding. There was not a lot of seating during the cocktail hour. Going up and down the stair was tight.
Downstairs during the reception was fine. I remember the band being on a slightly elevated area which I thought was great.
There was recently a thread about the Metropolitan you may want to do search. There was a discussion about the reception being split between the upstairs and downstairs and handicapp access.
All and all if you are having a smaller wedding then it is definitely worth the trip.
