best rates for currency are for atms and credit cards

there are a lot of atms in hotels
use common sense and you are pretty safe - use the atm during day light hours if possible and stay together at the atm and you will be fine

When I was in Mexico years ago, I couldn't use my ATM card. You have to ask your bank so they can hook it up properly to be used all over.

If you are at an all-inclusive you shouldn't even have to worry about tipping.

Call the resort to see if they have an ATM in the building...I think that would be safer.

thanks- don't worry my FH is 6 foot and 250lbs

he would never let me go alone- he hates when I go alone in NY

so if we run short of cash- I can go to the ATM!

nothing to worry about- I just remember being 18 on spring break and running out of cash-

I was just in Cabo and i'll tell you - a lot of the ATM's there don't take AMEX.

We had problems because we got an AMEX travelers check card instead of the paper travelers checks and we couldn't find anywhere to actually get the cash from the card other than the hotel, which did not have a great exchange rate..

My recommendation is to bring good old fashioned American dollars. Absolutely everyone down there takes dollars and will quote you prices in dollars. You won't even need any pesos.

And as far as tipping - we stayed in an all inclusive also (Dreams) where you don't need to tip... But most of us did every once in a while because it shows appreciation and you'll get better service.

Ah yes, and if you do go to an ATM, remember it might be all in Spanish and all you'll get is pesos..
We found a lot of them were not in English.

Have fun!! Cabo is great.

I got a $1k travelers check card and will bring cash

we plan on going into town for dinner- so we can use the card for that instead of cash and then use the cash for cab rides and tips

even though it's all-inlcusive we will tip everyone- that's just us-

i've been to mexico a few times. honestly...i prefer to exchange money into pesos and just carry the cash. don't exchange at the airport....you get crappy rates there. you get much better rates in town, and a lot of times they don't charge you a dime to change your money. (sometimes at the airport they do.)

JMO! hope you have a good time!
