I'm supposed to go for our first wedding anniversary next week to Riviera Maya. Is it safe there? I'm hearing all about kidnapping, robbery, drug lords . . .

we went for our honeymoon and it was fine. just dont leave your resort.

my FH travels to Mexico City all the time for work. I went with him one time and didn't wear one single piece of jewelry...not even a watch. a client of his was actually kidnapped
certain parts are worse than others. stay in your resort area though. the touristy parts are safe for the most part...minus the whole acapulco thing last year

my fiance and i went to riviera maya in june and had no problems at all; we even went into town.

Thank you ladies! I'm just a little nervous but we're staying at Secrets Silversands - its a huge all inclusive so hopefully it will be safer b/c we'll stay at the resort most of the time.
