Mexico honeymoon question

So I've chosen Mexico as a honeymoon destination and I'm wondering how everyone's experience was with the food? I've got a sensitive stomach and I'm a bit nervous about getting sick. If you stuck to the resort food and touristy restaurants were you okay?
TIA.

We actually ate at both the hotel and in the town to have some traditional mexican food. We actually stopped at this tiny little hole in the wall taqueria in Puerta Vallarta and had the best Mexican I've ever had in my life. I have GI issues as well, and I was OK eating the food both in and out of the hotel. But definitely don't drink the water outside of your hotel, I've had terrible experiences with that. If you order a drink outside the hotel, make sure it doesn't have ice cubes in it since its made from the same water that gets people sick.

I've also been to Puerto Vallarta and ate both hotel and restaurant food. We didn't drink the water but the food was fine and we didn't get sick!

Also, if you're into active excursions, we went on an awesome mountain bike ride through the Sierra Madre mountains. We did the beginner one and I was dying! We biked to this tiny restaurant on top of the mountain that had mini hot springs. It was awesome!
