Mice

Mice

2 days ago my brother spotted our first mouse in our house. We have never had a problem. Last week my aunt across the street found one in her home. So last night DH put out 2 glue traps. This morning we found the mouse along with 2 baby mice. My whole family is skeeved out except these vegan brothers of mine. They are outraged that we are not using live traps, but really we just want this problem gone. we thought we had a problem with 1 and now this morning we have 3. My neighbor dug up his yard this weekend to refertalize it and I think that is when we got them. My father went to the store today to get a ton of traps, but is there any real way to figure out how they got in? I am sick to my stomach and going to buy tupperware after work for pasta and cereal.

Uggggghhhh!! I haven't slept for the past 2 nights!!! I have a freaking family of mice in MY BEDROOM!!!!!! I had to send my new puppy to my mother's house because I am scared for her. The other night it was one. This morning it was 2!! WHAT THE HECK?????

I found the hole this morning. I am going to scare them into the hole and seal it up! That better stop the problem or my landlord is doing something about it!!!!

Re: Mice

Every winter without fail we get mice in our basement. We set traps for them but I will not allow DH to use those glue traps. I think they are cruel not that having a trap snap closed on them is much better but at least its instant. I don't know how true this is but I heard that mice don't have bones so they can get in through the smallest opening.

Re: Mice

The other problem with the glue traps is that sometimes the mice can drag themselves somewhere and you don't find them until they are dead and start to smell (well, hopefully you find them.) Sorry to say it, but it's true.

We had a big problem in my college dorm and I found the best way to get them was with the snap traps, using peanut butter as bait.

If you do see anything holes, try plugging them up with brillo... seems to work the best. I think the glue traps work best too... I had a problem a year ago (I totally freaked out) and it turns out the babies were licking the peanut butter off the snap traps and not setting them off because they were too small and light.
Good luck!

Want to borrow Gunnar?
It's the ONLY thing he's good at - catching mice.

Re: Mice

thanks for all the tips. When I go home tonight we will have to inspect for holes.

Re: Mice

There's something called D-Con. It's bait in a box. They eat it and then die somewhere (hopefully not where you can see em). You could put these where you see the holes.

In college we had a mouse problem too and we used D-Con, worked well, after we put it out, we never saw them again!!
