I see in the posts you made about the votive candle that you are doing them too. I have a question, which Stef would answer if she were around.Do you know if the writing on the vellum needs to be carved out, or if the drkness of the ink is sufficient to make them legible ?
thanks

Re: michele 31
I had a question for michele too about the candlesHow does the whole thing work?
You write on the glass? It would have to stand out alot I assume.
Also, are they lit already? Cant ppl burn themselves trying to find there name and walking to there tables with them?
I absolutly love the idea and might want to do this last minute if I understood how it worked
Thanks

Re: michele 31
I will bump the original message, and maybe between the 2 of us we can figure it out.I personally don't think the writing is carved out.

Re: michele 31
From what I remember from reading various other threads about this, the names are just printed on black ink on white vellum. The vellum is translusent, so when the candle is lit, the names really stand out. There's no carving involved.

Re: michele 31
where is michele?yes the candles are made using velum. you print on the candle. i think stef said you need to use a laser printer.
then she cut them out and used double sided tape to adhere them on i believe.

Re: michele 31
Sorry I didn't see this message until now.You cannot actually write directly on the votive holdersThe vellum is printed on a LASER printer- not inkjet printer. Inkjet printers cannot print properly on vellum. You need to use a font that is easy to read and of a good size, so no 8pt. scroll script fonts.
Michaels does not sell the vellum you need. Staples might or Office Max. I got mine at PaperAccess in NYC. I am positive it is found online also.
And it is VERY important that you use TEA LIGHTS not full votive candles inside the holders or else the holders get too hot to handle.

Re: michele 31
i actually started making them last night- and i did find the vellum at micheals along with all the other supplies. i used my printer and it took me about 2 minutes for each one after i made a template of the votive holder size. I feel that i will have enough time to them all even though i have only 9 days left.

Re: michele 31
I used an ink jet printer and it works fine BUTyou have to buy the vellum that is made for ink jet and give it sufficient time to dry before attaching the labels to the candels.
