Microwave heating bottles

Microwave heating bottles

Other than the obvious hot spots, is there any other reason not to do this? I never have but have been very tempted to especially at 3 am. Anything to do with the actual microwaves?

Microwaves will totally mess up breastmilk. Not sure why you cannot use a microwave with formula. Consider having an instant hot installed in your sink. It is a little spout that dispenses boiling water. I have it and it makes heating a bottle super quick.

I never faced this problem because my daughter was completely breastfed...but my sister used to fill a thermos with hot water before bed and then use that water to mix with formula in the middle of the night. Of course this method only works if you're using formula.

Separate of the uneven heating of the milk (like you said) it does degrade the plastic of the bottle over time. I never use to do it when my son was littler, but we do heat his milk in the microwave now and shake it up good. But just recently threw out 3 plastic Avent's because they were so cloudy, and it wasnt anything you could clean off, it was the plastic itself.

My SIL uses the microwave to heat teh bottles for my nephew and has never had any problems!

And she has never had the issue with teh bottles needing to be replaced and they have had these Advent bottles from when My neice was a baby 3 years ago!

I say save your sanity and do it, just becareful to shake it good!!!

I have never had a problem with heating my bottles in the micro... I didnt breast feed, so I have no idea the effects onb the Breast milk...

My bottles last fairly long.. I buy the cheaper ones from walmart and even dollar stores, an I find that they last longer than the evenflo's and advents I had when my son was a baby---

....PS you do need to shake it to obviously avoid hot spots, and test (waste) a few to see what the exact temp and time is!! Good Luck
