So I just had my second fitting - the day is coming up so soon!! It dawned on me, though, that the silk taffeta dress that I chose is (despite being gorgeous) very easy to wrinkle and crease. Maybe this is a bit overboard, but I was thinking of purchasing a little hand-held steamer, for my mom or BM to wave around me in between the ceremony and the reception. I know that by the end of the reception, the middle of my dress is going to be creased mess just from sitting, etc and I am totally fine with that. But, I would like to at least make a reception entrance looking my best. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge with silk taffeta and its care? Would a light spot steam while I'm wearing it (careful to not get water on it) be ok? Maybe I should ask the seamstress during my last fitting.... Any input is appreciated

You need to be careful with steamers they sometimes make the fabric wet and on anything silk it will leave a mark

I wouldn't use a steamer. I have steamed taffeta items in the past and there is always a water spot left behind, even when steaming properly (from the inside). So unless you'll have plenty of time in between or a blow dryer, I wouldn't recommend it.

I definitely won't have plenty of time - thank you for the fyi, Deirdre! I'll ask the seamstress what she recommends, if anything...
