Midtown girls....

FYI....we just got this e-mail from Corporate.
I love how all of these demonstraters have no problem using our police and emergency personel to keep their sorry asses in check when we need them to be protecting us against the very threat we are AT WAR OVER.

Re: Planned Civil Disobedience Demonstration in Rockefeller Center on Thursday, March 27th

Please be aware that a coalition of anti-war groups is planning a civil disobedience event in and around Rockefeller Center on Thursday, March 27th. The demonstration is expected to begin at 8 a.m. near Fifth Avenue and 50th Street and is aimed at media among other companies as well as government offices.

We cannot predict the size and scope of the demonstration, but vehicular and pedestrian traffic in and around Rockefeller Center may be affected. Given the unpredictability of the situation, you may want to allow extra time for travel to the office.

The police are aware that this demonstration is taking place and will have response teams in place to minimize disruptions.

Re: Midtown girls....

Did anyone see the protestors on Fifth Avenue this morning who painted them self blood red, tied them selves to each other with PVC piping and laid across the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 48th (?) street? I mean across all four sides of the intersection!

I could not believe what my eyes witnessed this morning walking to work. I think the whole NYPD was there. And they could break them up. They had to break out the heavy equipment to cut through the piping to separate them.! I think I will stay home tomorrow! :)

Re: Midtown girls....

They should have just left them there and let traffic run right over them. IDIOTS!

Re: Midtown girls....

Edited to add:

They COULDN'T break them up! There were about 20 maybe 30 of them. Just lying in the middle of Fifth Avenue! SICK!

I hate to say this but what I felt was traffic should have just kept going. If they are stupid enough to risk their lives by lying in the middle of the street (FIFTH AVENUE NO LESS), oh well then. Why should traffic be held up for god knows how long. Sorry if I sound cruel, but our protection was diverted due to this stupid protest. All of our police had to be there becuase of their stupidity, and God forbid they were needed elsewhere in these crazy times. I really feel for the NYPD (although I always did). After seeing what they had to put up with this morning, they have my ultimate respect and admiration. It is a tough job!

I just don't get it...what do these war protesters think they are going to accomplish NOW. I mean, we are like 50 miles from Bagdhad staring down the Iraqi frontline. Oh wait! Lets go back! There are 200 people in New York tying themselves up with PVC pipes..maybe this was a bad idea after all!

Oh good another round of non-stop police and Emergency sirens to make me jump out of my skin all day - I swear everytime I hear a siren I want to run home lately ......

I wonder if any of these people realize that the police have better things to do in Manhattan at this moment - like protect the people who are WORKING ....... I belive in free speech don't get me wrong it is every American's right , I wish some people would remeber that soliders fought and died and were hurt in WARS in order to provide them with this privlage. I hope every one for or against this war supports our troops - they deserve our respect.
