I went to Flowerbarn today because I need another bouquet for pictures.....(decided last min to hire a photographer and taking pics near home wedding in queens) ......there work is beautiful and Mike is a pleasure!!!! I had a strict budget and he put together a beautiful piece and fit my budget.Even though I was only ordering 1 bouquet from him he took his time and made suggestions and I am very happy. Now, the funny thing about this.......after we were all done and he was giving me my receipt we talked some more and found out we went to college together in the same classes!!! Such a small world.

We are working with Mike also. He is really awesome to deal with and really works within your budget. He showed us his work and has worked with David Tutera. They were in pics together!! I really feel like all of us Flowerbarn girls are in good hands!!

Re: Mike at Flowerbarn
So I spoke with Mike today ready to get a contract etc. in place. However, we have to provide a 35% deposit prior to even seeing or signing a contract. Any one else feel uncomfortable doing this??

I do...my Mom and I thought that was a bit much. Other florists only charge a deposit fee of $50-100. Thats a big difference...

Re: Mike at Flowerbarn
It's not even so much about the money for me, it's more about the fact that i'm paying money and won't have anything to show for it?
I mean what if I give him the deposit and they turn around and decide they're going to charge me $1000 more than they originally quoted or give me a different package than we dicussed?
Just seems a little weird. I think i'm going to call them back again tomorrow to see if I can either see a contract before hand, or get confirmation that the deposit is refundable?

Re: Mike at Flowerbarn
deposits are usually non refundable they are an LIW vendor so I dont think they would jerk you around. Everything is writting in your contract the types of flowers, how many of each item you are getting, what the center piece is. I wouldnt be too worried. He will make you samples until your happy. I dunno I didnt see anything wrong with this at all.

After all the positive reviews and since they are a LIW vendor, I'm sure they're going to do great work and we will be super happy.
Just wanted to get feedback from other girls! =) Hopefully by tomorrow, this will just be another big CHECK! =)

Mike is so easy to talk with. I would just let him know how you feel......I'm sure he'll listen and make you comfortable with everything before signing.

Re: Mike at Flowerbarn
We left a deposit and then the contract came in the mail within 2 days. It was priced exactly as he quoted it to us in the meeting. And he even told us that the flowers could be changed at anytime. So just because he wrote 'cream roses' didn't mean I couldn't change my mind and ask for 'orchids'. In fact at our second meeting I asked him to change up my MOH bouquet and he said no problem. Mike is very sweet to work with and very accomodating.

Yeah, FH and I had the same problem. When we spoke to him on the phone we asked him to run through the list we agreed on, and he ended up missing one thing. We asked if he could make a contract for us listing all the flowers etc. that we needed so we can have it on the day we put the deposit down, and he was able to accomadate our request.
