I posted something similar to this on the Mom's board also.
What responsibilities are you giving your MIL to feel involved in the wedding plans, while at the same time not burdening her?

Re: MIL
I'm not involving her at all, but that's because she's a miserable beyotch who should not have a say in my day.....but that's just me....I would think that maybe you can have her come along with you for things like flower appointments, or maybe if she's hosting the RD, she can help make invitations, or she can help you wiht your placecards or menus. If I think of more, I will let you know.

Re: MIL
My MIL isn't too involved, but that's kind of her way. She tells us to do whatever makes us happy. His parents even gave us money to use for wedding stuff and told us to spend it on whatever we felt we needed, they didn't even want a say in how their own money was spent. In a way it's a blessing, but since his mom and I are fairly close, I wish she was a little more involved. I asked her to come to my first fitting tomorrow, but she said she wouldn't be able to get off of work. I'm hoping she'll come to another one. I know she plans on helping me with the seating chart, because FH and I don't even know half of the people she invited. Other than that, she hasn't been too involved. They haven't even seen our hall, they have no idea about our photographer or even what kind of flowers we're having.

Re: MIL
my mil and I are close, so she's come with me and my mom for everything (including my dress). I haven't left her out of any of the planning.

Same here. Also, I think it gets really hard when you have a million people giving their opinion. It is much easier when you have only two other people with you.

Re: MIL
I took her with us for the flowers and she is getting to do just about whatever she wants for the RD. Other than that, not much.
FMIL did tell FH's cousin (our coordinator) that she feels like she should be able to do more and is getting left out - like she wanted to go dress shopping with me, but I feel like that is my mom's thing, not her's.
It's not my fault she had boys!!

Re: MIL
its funny cause in my case...its my FIL who gets upset when we dont include him in our plans....my FH entire male side of the family wants to be more involved so i will probably include him in things like limos and such....MIL is cool but she and my mom dont really get along so i will do seats with her since its mostly his family and will probal do flowers and favors with both m and mil

Re: MIL
I am not invloving her too much, because I already have a mom and a stepmom to deal with. She is also EXTREMELY traditional and that is not my thing, but she just doesn't get that. I know she complains to FH about this, but she also has a daughter that's just about engaged and she'll get to do all this stuff with her.

Re: MIL
Mine lives sort of far, but does calligraphy. Instead of asking her to do all the calligraphy, I am going to go out for a weekend and have her teach me calligraphy. We'll see how that works out.
She will also do the rehersal dinner invites and help pick the RD menu with me.
She is nice, but extrmely traditional and modest. I showed her a few pics of dresses and she kept commenting on how skimpy and sexy they were (which they were not-they just we're sleveless.) So, I will not include her in anything to do with fashion or my wedding choices.
I think the key is to zone into what might interest her. Go shopping for the stupid little stuff with her, ask her to help stuff envelopes, show her the menu and get her input...etc

Re: MIL
I had her come with us to pick the wedding hall and when we finally booked it to go over all the details. She also came with us to choose our florist. I dont think she was involved in much else than that....
