Military Brides

Hey ladies,
I meant to post this sooner, but I've been busy studying for my NCLEX exam that I kept forgetting.
One of my BMs called me up on Sunday telling me I had to go onto this site called 'Brides Across America' and how I qualified and how they were having the event the next day. Pretty much what it was was if you or FH served overseas within the last 5 yrs you qualified for a free wedding gown (the specific guidelines are on their site). The NY location was at Bridal Reflections on 5th Ave. So I called them up and was able to snag a last minute appointment. So I went in on Monday armed with my mom, sisters, and friend. Unfortunately, the dresses that you can choose from are limited to 1 rack of discontinued or sample dresses (some are even a little damaged). However, I was able to find an amazing Amalia Carrara dress that I liked and got to take it home for FREE!

I know this event passed and but they are constantly running promos like this and the lady there said that they are having another one in the fall, so I just wanted to share this with you guys so that you would know to keep it on your radar. It's an awesome opportunity if you qualify! You do need to bring in paperwork, such as deployment papers and proof that you have a wedding booked. HTH!!

This is so wonderful. FH just got out of the military in May. Huge change for him but much better for our life together. I know how hard it can be for military spouses/significant others, so I think it's great the bridal industry is stepping up to help out.

Congrats to you and good luck planning. Would love to see a pic of your dress.

Thanks!! Congrats to you too and tell your FH thank you for all that he has done.
I agree! It's a huge sacrifice on both the service member and their significant other. Oftentimes when military members come home it's hard for them to find a job and even harder to finance their dream wedding! This program gives them a chance to cross one more (expensive) thing off their list!
When they have their next event and if you get a chance, check it out! Just remember to call ahead for an appointment. It doesn't hurt to go and take a look!

Also, I posted pics of my dress in my profile.

Your dress is beautiful. Wear it well and enjoy.

I'm getting married in less than 3 months, so I'm all set with my dress. Thanks for the recommendation though.

Hope you don't mind, but I will be following you as you plan. It's rare to come across a military bride planning a wedding on LI. Can't wait to see your journey and if you need anything, this community is wonderful.

Thank you so much!
Wow, three months!!! That's so exciting! How has the planning process been for you so far? I wish you lots of luck with everything!!
I absolutely don't mind at all. I think my wedding is a little different than most weddings since we are having an Indian wedding also and we want to incorporate some military aspects as well. FH is going to be wearing his dress uniform for the ceremony and changing into a tux for the reception. Are you including any military aspects in your wedding?
