Milk & Sugar Question

Milk & Sugar Question

Hey girls!
Trying to help my mom narrow down some places for the shower and we were thinking about the Victorian Room at Milk & Sugar in Bayshore. It seems like the perfect place for it, but we read a few pretty bad reviews online about their service. Has anyone been there recently or had their shower there that can offer some advice?
Thanks so much & happy planning :)

I've only been their for brunch, not for a shower. Their service was a little slow, but we were in no rush...

sorry I couldn't be of more help...

I was there for my friend's shower a few years ago. It was cute - service wasn't bad, but the food isn't really that wonderful. What WAS awesome though was the atmosphere. There are couches and coffee tables and high tops. Really cool looking place. HTH!

I went to a bridal shower last June at the Victorian Room. The room is very nice but depending on how many people you are planning to have, can be very cramped. The tables were very close to each other and it was kind of hard to move around in between them. I thought the food was okay - it wasn't bad but nothing to rave about. Sorry this isn't such a great review - just wanted to give an honest opinion! HTH!

FH and I used to eat there all the time, but in the last year service has gotten terrible. The last time we were there we even walked out before our meal. However, since I wanted the cute atmosphere my Mom still called to see what they would offer for my shower and they were so rude and snobby to her it was ridiculous!

I was there a few months ago for a shower. There were over 100 people at this shower. The service was good. No complaints. The other thing I found was that it isn't a good setup if you have a lot of people. The people all the way in the back of the room can't really see what you are opening. The food was okay. There were three course. Salad, pasta and main course. Salad was good. Pasta was good but needed to be a little warmer. I had the steak for dinner which was the best choice. The fish and the chicken was just okay from what I remember.

Re: Milk & Sugar Question

We had my cousin's shower at the Victorian Room the summer of 09' when it was first opened. We had a buffet brunch/lunch menu with omelette station, and sandwiches. The food was good, and the cake they provided was amazing! We also got to take home all of the leftovers. The room is tight. We had about 40 people in the front room (depending on the number of people you're having - they give you either the front which is larger, the back which is smaller, or both), and pretty much everyone stayed at their tables for the most part. Although I think that this is what happens at almost any restaurant for a shower. The staff was very nice that day - they let us decorate however we wanted, and let us come in an hour early to do so. We ended up setting up all of her gifts at the front of the room where there are couches (or at least there were couches) I do remember it being difficult to get a hold of the owners when we were originally booking and researching. Overall my cousin was really happy and the guests enjoyed themselves.
We did have an 80th birthday party at the actual Milk and Sugar restaurant this past summer, and it was a very different experience. There was barely ANY A/C in JULY! The room was crowded with multiple parties going on at the same time and it was a brunch so you're standing over these other people while you wait for your food. I think if you're across the street at the Victorian Room you'll be fine - just make sure you have at least the front room, if not both rooms!

Hope this helps!

Re: Milk & Sugar Question

I had my shower there in July and liked it a lot! As another poster stated there are two rooms - the back room is 35 or less, the front room is 45 or more (what if you have 40? I don't know...). We had the back room and I had 34 so it was tight, but people tend to barely mingle at showers. The service was good and the food was excellent! I had the brunch menu with omlette station, sandwiches, and salad. We got all the leftovers. And the cake was not only delish, but beautiful!!! And my shower was a'surprise' - they worked with my MOH on how to get me in there. It was pretty funny! I recommend the place, but my only suggestion is have enough people to get the front room!

FH and I went there about 3 months ago and the food and service are not what they were when they first opened...
